Do Christians exist?

I am sick today. Unable to really move around or get out of bed. It makes me think. It makes me think of all the times I've needed help and never recieved it, at least not by Christians. It made me think of when my friend broke her foot and I (an agnostic) was the only one who helped her.

I don't do right because I hope it will get me a better after life. I do good deeds because I feel good about it. I like, no love, helping people. It fills me up with a joy that being selfish could never give me. I look for no reward, no return of good, I just want to simply make someones day better.

A girl was crying in her dorm all night. I could hear her. So I wrote a note that read "You are loved" and stuck it to her door. No one knows it was me. I just liked to know that it made her smile. I put little notes in people's mail boxes with a happy little phrase. A "warm fuzzy" if you will. But I expect nothing in return. I just hope people pass it on.

I wonder why there aren't more people like this. With all the Christians in this country you would think this place would be a bit more loving. Instead we fight, argue, debate. Who is right and who is wrong. Does it matter?

Just live life. And take a few moments out of your bubble to notice someone. Write a little note, leave some candy in your dorm hall, offer to help carry something when someone is loaded down. Nobody is too busy not to help another. And if you help someone don't accept the reward. If you find a dog, cat, purse whatever don't accept the reward. Remember the awe inspiring movie and tell them to pay it forward.

Maybe if everyone just helps out a little we can take the first steps in the long journey to peace and understanding. It's not about religion you see. It's about living a good life for the sake of yourself. Not for a God.

You know, I often think the same things. It makes me sad when people are so selfish that they don't help others just for the sake of helping. And both sides of my extended family are very religious. They're Roman Catholics and Baptists and they think that they're good people, but they are mostly very selfish people. What happened to the good Christian? I thought they were taught to help people just because. What was that Jesus said? Something about for every hungry man that you fed and every helpless person you helped, you've helped me. Something like that. Why don't people think like that anymore. We are all brothers and sisters in this world and we should care for each other as such. I'm an Atheist, but I have very strong morals, and a lot of the timeless and even biblical moral teachings I hold very dear, especially compassion and empathy.

Christians do exist. I am one. If only more Christians would go out of their way to bless people, as you have done. That would be nice wouldn't it. The truth is that most of us are still learning how to live right. And some of us are rotten, selfish people. The whole point for us is that we want God to change us. See, we don't live our lives trying to do good works. We live our lives by faith, and the bible says that with faith comes works and the fruit of the spirit. These fruits include love, temperance, kindness, meekness, humbleness, etc. The greatest commandment in our Bible is that we love God and love our neighbors as we love ourselves. Sometimes Christians miss or overlook that part. You might want to remind your Christian friends of this verse. Don't be mad at them, just remind them, and they'll remember it.

I think some Christians mentality is that "Hell, I'm saved anyway!" And then they keep acting like asses. Lol, I'm one of them.

I agree that there should be more selfless people out in the world. But I am a Christian and I do nice things for other but at times I can be selfish just like any other person...so why only pick out Christianity? Yes the Bible does tell us to be nice to others but not to impress some God but to show love. Just because you are agnostic or Christian does not make you any better or kinder.

I think she picked out Christianity because Christians are supposed to follow the teachings like the other blogger said before. We're supposed to set examples and when we don't we're thought of as hypocrites.

People who are religious are often driven by guilt to do good. For the atheist who doesn't believe in no God and who is moral, is a better person who does good out of fear of punishment in the afterlife.

But this is not Christianity, you are talking about. This is about religion in general. Christians, true Christians, do good because their good people. I can see you have a hatred for Christians from your other post, but I think you share more of a hatred for religion per say. And I can say that for the most part, Christians hate religion as well.

Keep religion out of the churches.....

Your post had a good message, but I think pointing out Christianity detracted from that message.

I live in the bible belt so all I have to go from is Christians and how they act. I am a minority. I don't hate Christians since all my friends are one, but I do disagree with the people who run the religion.

There are other people in the Bible Belt as well. I went to high school there, and knew three Jews in my classes alone (I'm sure there were more in my school, I just never had class with them or they didn't care enough to tell me they were Jewish).

But anyway, I still think it detracted from your message. You start by saying Christians should do all these things and then you go into why you do them, and how more people should. I think your message would be stronger if you left religion out of it.

But that wasn't what I was wanting to get across. I'm wanting the Christians to walk their talk. That was my message. I want other people to do that as well, but Christians have the biggest talk so I want to see the biggest walk.
And in my school with 900 students there was only one jewish girl and the rest were christians.

Then you should've brought the point back to the religion at the end. You didn't... you just let it trail off.

And obviously the rest weren't Christians if you went to the school and you're agnostic. Non-Christians may be in the minority, but that doesn't mean that they don't exist in the Bible Belt (unless, of course, you live in the middle of nowhere in the Bible Belt... then they're much more likely to just be redneck Christians). Also depends on what you consider a Christian, but that's another issue for another time.
