Illegal copying of music from the internet or CDs is a BIG problem. I dont see a problem with copying a CD because it has been bought and copied by the owner, correct? I dunno its all so confusing and hard to completely understand. Internet sharing is piracy to the music industry. It helps all communities from wasting money in my eyes, lOL but i understand the issue.
After years of suing Internet users for downloading songs illegally, the music industry is targeting pirates in 12 cities who copy CDs and DVDs for sale at street corners, flea markets, family-run shops and even mainstream record stores.
Executives identified the cities as Houston, Atlanta, Austin, Chicago, Dallas, Los Angeles, Miami, New York, Philadelphia, Providence, R.I., San Diego and San Francisco. These were selected based on market surveys, earlier raids and industry reviews of sales data suggesting lost sales during the past five years.
They've narrowed down the cities and are going to aim at punishing those only in them. How obstructive, what about everyone else???

its the next generation in cheap music. back in the day people used to wait for their favorite song to come up on the radio so they can record it on their cassette. Sure, its illegal and its taking huge amounts of money from record companies and the artists, but true fans buy cd's, go to concerts, and support them in any which way they can. Most of the time u can tell if the artist is solely in it for the money or for the passion of just playing music. soon enough in the near future, there will me some other way of getting music, the whole internet fad of downloading will fade, it went up when ipods came out, but now it seems like everybody has one, in due time something new and even more illegal will come out, so why stop it.
Yup thats true. ~<3~Love and be loved!~<3~
Both my hands up!
The more people you can reach, the more people you touched with your music. Not everyone has money or has opportunity to go to these expensive concerts or buy cds, wake up pal, there is another big world out there other than the U.S. I think it is truly a wonderful thing for someone in the 3rd world country can enjoy music which they will never be able to afford to buy in thier life time.
If you ask a musician, would he rather not be heard for the majority of the world, and make a little more money, or would he like to let his music be heard for all people around the world, including some 12 yeares old girl from a poor family living in a gheto, what do you think he will say?
What people do not realize is that people need to turn to EFF.org for information.
