The continued effects of enslavement...

I was listening to V-103 yesterday as they had listeners calling in to inquire about the "LOVELY" candidates selling their souls for a vote and an elder black woman called in. Frank Ski asked her to state her comment and she replied " I have never voted before but listening to your show made me want to vote. My granddaughter asked me in the car who was I going to vote for and I told her, I don't know who is running or what they are about but I am voting Democrat." She then proceeded to ask Frank Ski if the ballots distinguish between who is democrat, republican, libertarian, etc. and he said yes. She followed up by saying "I am voting Democrat , everyone just vote Democrat." Frank Ski replied that was good.

What the HELL? I am confused. I understand that many black elders were not provided the opportunity to vote or have a lack of understanding for the process... However, what is a valid excuse for Frank Ski's ignorance around the subject?

Enslavement has led to a lot of ignorance, fear of knowing and just not knowing but when will the cycle end? He could have easily explained to her that it is important to vote for the issue not the person and advised her granddaughter and her to spend some time researching together. This not only affected the elder but she has now passed the same attitude on to her granddaughter and who knows who she may pass it on to. When are we as black people going to wake up and look at the bigger picture... Realistically speaking, he wanted her to vote democrat because that is what they were promoting, but who really caught the short end of that stick?

Yeah. Voting partisan consistantly is just the product of successful brand advertising and ultimately brand loyalty.
