Evolution & Religion=not be taught=both are theories

IN school they teach us facts. The sun is hot, the moon is cold. Water is made of H20, and so forth. why are people so set on teaching evolution in school? I mean, it's just a theory, no offence. Prove it and I will believe it. Now for religion, it should not be taught because they should either teach of ALL religions or none at all (since people could complai) How much would teaching this cost us?

i mean, if you want your kid to learn religion, take him to your churche's classes.

If you want to learn evolution or religion why not wait until you are in college? When you are ready to make decisions for yourself?

First of all, people are quite capable of making decisions on their own before college. Second of all, why should we deprive students from gathering information about everything they can? As long as these theories are in fact taught as theories and not the truth, there is no problem in teaching students about different worldviews. And these are not the only two theories taught in school. Psychology has thousands of theories, as does any class concerning politics, and so do math classes. The educational curriculum is filled with theories. That is how we learn. We gather information about many different theories and then we form our own opinions regarding the topic based on what we have learned and what we think about it. Would it be better to have a generation of un-informed, un-educated pacifists who have never heard of the words evolution or intelligent design?

My next point is that evolution and religion are not mutually exclusive...meaning that it is possible to have both at the same time. (By the way, religion isn't the opposite of evolution. It just so happens that most people who embrace the idea of intelligent design also embrace religion) Anyway, the theory of evolution is rooted in Darwin's theory. Now, if you've ever read his work or researched him beyond what people say about him, he did not say that religion was wrong. He did not say that there was no God. What he said was that organisms evolve. "Religious" people believe that too. Animals that blend into their surroundings survive better than those who dont, and as a result, after generations of reproduction, the better camouflaged animals have prevailed. That was Darwin's point. He never said that God didn't exist. Intelligent design and evolution can exist at the same time. Simply put, God created the world and what is on it, and then things evolved into how they are today.

My god, do they teach you nothing in school? Like what a theory is even? A theory is something that has NEVER BEEN PROVEN WRONG. Unline a Religion which is a set of BELIEFS. Did you not learn these things in school? Anyway, Read this to answer your question

God. Would you fundamentalists stop whining about this already?

I believe you have mixed up the definition of a theory, and the basis of science. A theory is something that has been proven through countless experiments and proof, and you combine all that proof into a theory. The theory of gravity functions the same way, in which all these different experiments and laws have been proven, and are then factored towards a universal theory on that subject.

Creationism on the other hand, has no basis for experimentation, and has therefore only stayed as a hypothesis.

I really don't care if someone is teaching me religion in school because there's plenty of other avenues for me to discover that information on my own. Now on ther other hand I have people cramming evolution down my throat in public school. If I wanted to know about evolution I would study it outside of school just like any other subject. I would prefer my curriculum be fact based but whatever. Just because someone told me about evolution it doesn't mean I took it as the truth. So it doesn't really bother me that much.
