Zyprexa off label promotion scandal is all over the news now.
Lilly drug reps are alleged to have called their marketing ploy,"Viva zyprexa".
Eli Lilly zyprexa cost me over $250.00 a month supply out of my own pocket X 4 years and has up to ten times the risk (over non users) of causing diabetes and severe weight gain.
Zyprexa which is only FDA approved for schizophrenia (.5-1% of pop) and some bipolar (2% pop) and then an even smaller percentage of theses two groups.
So how does Zyprexa get to be the 7th largest drug sale in the world?
Eli Lilly is in deep trouble for using their drug reps to 'encourage' doctors to write zyprexa for non-FDA approved 'off label' uses.
The drug causes increased diabetes risk,and medicare picks up all the expensive fallout.There are now 7 states (and counting) going after Lilly for fraud and restitution. Zyprexa-Victims http://zyprexa.vox.com/

Ellen Liversidge Zyprexa is not just life-threatening. It is also life-taking. I would be happy to give my email address to anyone who has lost a family member to Zyprexa, as I have lost my only son, but I would also be willing to help organize a Muerta Zyprexa brigade for all those wishing to honor innocent victims. Some of my ideas are things like street theater in front of the FDA, the same in front of the Capitol or on the Mall, visits to our Congressmen-dressed in black, and raising money for a lovely monument in honor of all victims of prescription drugs. We have a beautiful Vietnam Memorial in memory of 50,000 brave soldiers. Why not a Maya Lin-designed memorial in memory and honor of our innocent ones, dead from a ruthless industry?
Muerta Zyprexa Take it to the streets[
Great...as a pharmacy major, I fear for the profession of my choice...especially since I figured I'd work for a pharmaceutical company or the FDA when I graduate.
I take zyprexa. It helps me not go too insane. But I do feel afraid that it may cause other more serious consequences, such as diabetes, which my grandmother and aunt have. Can using zyprexa and exercising help dissuade the diabetic causing effects of the medicine?
And what's this about taking lives? Does it really have that sort of effect?
