When I look around and see the youth of america i sometimes feel frightened. Oh yes, frightened!
Kids these days are just so..different to say the least! There seems to be an increasing amount of teenage girls getting pregnant at 13 and 14, drop-out rates are getting higher and higher and there just seems to be less respect for authority. I mean look at the examples that these kids are being given. Many kids have a lack of appreciation for education and what is actually happening in the world. Elegant_Free wrote a blog about how some people dont even watch the news or know about Sadaam Hussein.
Linsey Lohan who went to rehab got clean and came back out to do coke and get into another car accident. Britney Spears who cant seem to keep any panties on or keep her kids. Paris Hilton who had no respect for the driving laws and finally went to jail. These are the girls who our girls are looking up to and modeling.
And it seems many parents are not as invloved either. I know that times are getting harder and that there are more single parents who sometimes need to work double jobs and so they do not have more time at home. But if children are raised well, they wont be sneaking out everytime your at work. Dont get me wrong there are many single parents who raise their kids wonderfully and homes with two parents who are both doing crumby jobs. What I am trying to say is that something is going wrong with these kids.
I know that back in every decade the older people would probably say the same things. Like in the 70's all of the peace and love and no bras thing..that probably scared some. And then in the 80's the whole gold chains and addidas era and the 90's spice girls and tamagachis..but I dont think the children have gotten so out of control. What can be done? Am I alone in this thought? Please let me know how you guys feel.
And I am only 18 but yet still see the differences from when I was as young as 12

I don't know about young kids in the '90s. I thought we were pretty mellow, and I love Spice Girls (they're good role models) and tamagochi. but it does seem like the future is so unclear for the new generation. I wonder how my peers are going to rule the world. I feel like everyone is so ignorant...of other people's views and beliefs, of other countries and other cultures and customs. It makes me really worried, which is why I try to encourage younger children and my friends to wise up and start to realize that they are the people who are gonna be making big decisions for this country and for the world.

I didn't know anything about the world until I went to high school. There everything blew up in my face: sex, drugs, laziness, apathy. That's a little extreme, and I don't think public high schools are evil or anything, but you're right.
lol, not wearing bras....
everything you wrote is exactly the same thing that i think about our generation.
i think it is time for us to step it up, or else our future is not looking so great in the long run. read my blog " Our youth is so unintelligent". i think we are both on the same page here.
