Another school shooting

Well here are another school shooting. It is not a student this time. But teachers in Florida were out on there lunch break smoking off campus. Two men came up there and demanded their money. One teacher told them no and was shoot in the lower half. How many more school shooting does need to be before the country wakes up and starts voting for tougher law. Here is what i see if you are caught with a gun in school not only do you need to be kicked out of school but you need to be arrested and there needs to be some jail time. There is no such special treatment to minors when it comes to this issue. We need to crack down on minors carrying guns and we need to give more then a slap on the wrist to people who are caught with a gun. There is no reason why people kids or adults should have guns in or near a school. This why there kids in this country that are afaird to go to school. There is no safe place to learn anymore we and I mean we as a country need to ask ourself why are we afaird to crack down on kids and adults that carry guns in and around schools. For 8 hours a day kids should have no reason to fear being shot in schools this is the one place besides home that they should feel safe. Every Law maker should sit down at their desk and take a long look inside theirself and ask themself WHAT can I do to hlp kids feel safe while in schools. Also how can I help keep scchools clean of guns. They also need to crack down people the sell or give kids guns. they need more then years in jail. It should be a min. of 10 or 15 years in jail. Most kids do not buy guns from gun dealers they are givin to them by friends or familys. some are bought from drug dealers. We need to curb our kids carrying guns and hurting each other with them.

the shooter wasn't a student. it was an adult from off-campus. The teacher had to go across the street to smoke a cig during a lunchbreak.

it wasn't a kid.

Besides, what are more laws going to do? it is already illegal to sell to a minor, and illegal for a minor to have a gun.

they need to relax the carry laws so that someone with a concealed carry permit can carry whlie they are at a school.

That would be a few teachers and staff who WISH to defend themselves.

As we see time and time again, 'gun free zones' don't work as they produce an unarmed potential victim.

to anyone who gives the kid a gun, but I don't know if I agree with even more crackdowns on kids.

Kids are rebellious by nature. When you crack down, it seems to stoke the fire. They'll just find more ways to circumvent the system. I think it's better if there were more counselors added to the schools. That's the number one cutback in the last couple of decades.

There are just fewer adults committed in seeing a child go through school and into college, or even to hear the kids' problems.

During high school, I had the same counselor move with me through all four years. He knew me by my first name, and supported me through lots of problems.

We need more intervention before the kid even gets a gun, and not try to rememdy the problem after.

There are already laws in place so that minors can't get guns, just as people with criminal backgrounds can not get them.

They still obtain them, illegally. I think we need a better call to action than just "we need tougher laws." Obviously, there needs to be some way to STOP these people (who probably have the weapons illegally in the first place) from selling to minors... but I don't think more jail time is going to scare them.

Rapists get minimal sentences... I saw a man in the news guilty of raping three women and he only got 9 years in prison. Murderers get out quick, too... My aunt's murderer only got 21 years and they promised him 15 if he was well behaved.

Jail isn't scary. What else can we do to punish offenders?

I'm more concerned about protecting victims, of which punishment as a deterant is a part (provided the punishment is swift and harsh enough to be)

you are dead on.... if something is already illegal, making it more illegal isn't going to keep people from doing it.

i have always thought that schools should hire security. at least one police patroling the campus.
