So I work and I go in on time every day and I do my job. So when the person who is suppose to work with me doesn’t show doesn’t call I am not the only one to suffer. My customers suffer because I have to close the store and I can’t let them in. What I don’t get is why if you can’t come to work for what ever reason can’t you call and say so boss I can’t come it’s not like they can make you. So if you call in the boss can go ok I’ll be sort on shift so and so I need to call and get some people to come and work and then no one suffers.
Why can’t people be more responsible? Another thing that gets me it the delivery truck my store is the first store on the route yet the truck was three hours late. We had his boss’ calling and asking if the truck was delivered. What was he doing?

Why should people be more responsible if they get what they want or at least what they need by being irresponsible?
I'm not trying to be rude, but that's the mentality that a lot of people have. They lack the perspective to see the importance of responsibility, and life more than just all about them.
I too dislike irresponsible people. However, people don't like to work (especially when work is not fun). If you have a serious problem you need to either enhance your workplace or have higher expectations. Make work fun and exciting, rewarding and challenging. If you are paying minimum wage, don't expect too much because working hard for very little is never fun. If you make their work place entertaining you can compensate for the low wages. Make the employee WANT to come to work, not feel obligated (obligation=irresponsibility).
Make it required that they call ahead of time (most businesses say 2 hours). If they skip work a number of times (say 3 or so without calling ahead) then...fire them! They're wasting your time and resources anyway and you should hire a better worker.
I am not a manager I am just another employ. The job sucks and it lousy hours but that’s what you got hired for and you knew it. We are short as it is so my manager isn't going to fire anyone any time soon unless you’re stilling. And its about a $1.00 over minimum wage. For me its just a job I don't realy need cause mom would be willig to support me untill I find one I like better, but I'm too indepenednt for that. I like making it on my own I just ask tha she pay for college.
