Okay kids, storytime!
Once upon a time there was a boy/girl called John/Jane Emo. John/Jane Emo didn't like his/her life, so one day then went into their daddy's bedroom, took out his gun and pointed to their head. BOOM! The carpet had a big red spot on it now, but I don't think John's/Jane's parents can get very angry because John/Jane is sort of dead.
THE END.

The high school I'm attending got a bunch of "suicide watch" cards that no one even really looked at. My friend in Homeroom thought it was about the ACT's because she didn't read carefully. Is this all we can do?
Later that day I found out that the reason that they were sent out is because one of my [kind of, sort of] friends' closest friends had went and shot himself in the head. He didn't go to our school, so no one really cared.
That night, I told one of my college friends about it and we had a long talk about suicide. Most of it was his anger at "how stupid some fucking emo kids are". Some of it was my mind opening about the other end of suicide, the real victims, the ones that will live with that death forever. Friends and family.
I thank Goddess every night that my cousin saved me, but that is for another story.

Some people say that all suicides are preventable, but I think if you want to die, you want to die. If you don't, then DON'T DO IT, DON'T TRY IT, DON'T EVEN THINK ABOUT IT! Failed suicide attempts just make life worse and successful ones end them.
DON'T BE STUPID.

Not everyone who attempts suicide or thinks about suicide is ready to die or even wants to die. Every suicidal comment or thought should be taken seriously. The whole thing about "emo" kids cutting themselves or attempting suicide just to be cool or for attention is not completely true (the majority who commit suicide are homosexuals and married men with a professional and high paying job). In most cases, those who attempt suicide feel despondent and that no one understands what they are going through so it makes it difficult for them to share their feelings openly. Trying to not think about it only suppresses the thought and does not prevent them from killing themself. They could make themself sick with supressed thoughts (there is still the imbalance of seratonine to consider and biological aspects like weak immune system due to depression). Technically, all suicides are preventable it just depends on whether the suicidal individual recieves help and support which is usally the hardest part for most suicidals do not freely seek help and families are usually oblivious to a person being depressed. It's sad for the families of the suicide victim especially when they had no knowldge of any suicidal signs from the individual prior to the attempt or death.
"the majority who commit suicide are homosexuals and married men with a professional and high paying job"
Thanks for telling me. I thought that was just in Japan.

"You can not help someone who does not want to be helped."
Don't hate me for what I'm about to say. I've been there. Read EVERYTHING I have to say before passing judgment.
Suicide is the most selfish and cowardly act a person can commit.
Those words were the only thing that stopped me from committing suicide my freshman year. I literally had to sit through my math class and have this internal yell-fest about how selfish I was being and how much it would hurt the people I love if I actually went through with it. My friends were trying to be helpful, but they JUST DIDN'T GET IT. I had to think about how it would hurt them and force myself to put those I love before myself on my priority list.
I'm glad I did, because my life took a turn for the better only a short time later. I'm now MUCH happier, and I'm proud to say that that little inverted pep talk has prevented me from having a single suicidal thought since then.
Oh, and I also hate it when people do the whole "stupid emo" act. The people who talk about "emo" kids are the ones who are most at risk for suicide.
