I was at a funeral the other day, and I noticed that more than one of the girls and women there were wearing these pants. I personally think that they are strange and kinda slutty, but if you like them, more power to you. But there are just some people who should not be allowed to wear these pants! I know that this is true for all kinds of clothes, and I feel the same way about skirts and shorts. But I see so many people every day come into the mall where I work, and I just don't get it. How can some people look into the mirror and think "Wow, I look good!" when all their flab is hanging out and their butt is jiggling? I myself think that I am too squishy to wear these pants, and I weigh abut 115 pounds and work out all the time! I just wish that people would flatter their attributes no matter what size they are while covering themselves up and wearing appropriate clothing.

Shame they get mixed up with the really cool bombachas de campo or gaucho trousers.

Gauchos are really annoying. You wear regular panties with them, huge panty line. You wear a thong, it's obvious because the stupid things wedge themselves up your butt. Also, if you have any fat at all, they accentuate the cellulite dimples, aka cottage cheese. I'm a bigger girl, but I've found a great solution - Spanx, or, for the financially challenged like myself, Assets (sold at Target and much cheaper). They're essentially very firm control hose, with the control part extending down the thigh, and they smoothe you out great. And since I'm short and usually have to pull my pantyhose up to my bra to avoid a bunch of fabric at my waist, I also get a nice torso-slimming effect. Plus, no pantylines OR visible wedgies!
They are indeed evil, even on a person with the nicest figure. There is a guy at my school who wears them all the time. It's horrible.

Honestly, I think they make your butt look cute but they make you look short because the legs are so baggy.
I think they're cute if you have the body to pull them off.
Some people can't wear certain things. Busty people can't wear tight tops, scrawny people can't wear fitted jackets, and some body types (although I have not seen the "nastiness" you guys are describing with Gauchos) just can't wear gaucho pants.
It's not an insult... some people just can't "pull off" certain things based on their body type.
I think gauchos are cute. But then again, I'm tall, skinny, and have athletic [ie thicker than skinny/normal] calves, so they can be cute with the right pumps.
Although I do have a pair that go all the way to the ground and I have yet to find the confidence to wear them. They look to "runway" for me. And by runway I mean they don't look good on anyone unless they're on the runway. ;)

I agree with you. I have the kinda-long, athletic legs, and I love the way my calves look in cropped pants with a nice high heel. They DO look worse on some people. F*** Religion. Read more here:
