It's the first memorial to soley honor lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgendered victims of the Holocaust. The memorial, Pink Triangle Park, is located near the center of the Castro District. The color scheme of the park is black and pink.
During the Holocaust gay men were forced to wear bright pink triangles on their clothes. Lesbians, prostitutes, and women that refused to bear children were forced to wear black triangles. The bright pink triangles were so that the homosexual men could be spotted fairly easily, and beaten. Homosexuals had one of the highest death rates among the small groups within the concertration camps.

I didn't know about the history of homosexuals during the Holocaust; so, thanks for writing this blog.

That's really neat. In addition to honoring the Jewish victims of the Holocaust, it's great that we recognize all persecuted groups, and remember the dangerous ideologies that led to their deaths.
By any chance, are you Kayla or her mom? Just a wild guess.
