It's so funny to see people's faces when I tell them, "I'm going to an all girls school" or "I'm going to a liberal arts school." Once I told them, "I'm going to an all girls liberal arts school," they just stared at me like I had made the biggest mistake of my life. How come when I say I'm going to a private school, no one says anything but congratulate me?
Some of the questions that pop up the most are: Are you a lesbian? Why are you going to an all girls school? Why are you going to a liberal arts school? What can you do with a liberal arts degree? You know you're not going to make a lot of money right? How are you going to get a boyfriend? Have you seen how girls act towards each other in Flavor of Love and American's Next Top Model when they're together?
I want to set things straight about girls schools. First, not every girl who goes to an all girls school is homosexual or bisexual. What does their sexuality have to do with anything? Second, the sisters colleges are just as good as any other schools. Actually, their rankings are higher than many regular liberal arts schools. Third, there are plenty of guys walking around on campus hunting for girls. Trust me, there are a lot of near by college guys who wonder into campus with their friends to see their girlfriends. Fourth, there are many joined parties! Meaning, there will be guys at the parties.
Fifth, some girls want to be separated from men because they want to concentrate solely on their education...which I thought it was a wise thing to do. Can you blame them if they don't want to get pregnant before they're married?
Liberal arts schools are not any different from law, business or medical schools. Their field of concentration is just not the same. Asking someone why that person would go to a liberal arts school is like asking why you're going to a medical school. If you don't know what liberal arts colleges or universities are, do research before you assume things. You can do A LOT with liberal arts degree like any other degree that you get. Still, many people who graduated with different degree pursue higher education to get Master Degree or PhD...do you ever ask them why?
Flavor of Love and American's Next Top Model girls are their for competition (I'm not even sure why they're related to an all girls school). If you lose, you get eliminated. So of course, those girls would be somewhat bitter towards each other. You can never get eliminated from colleges, unless you make a big mistake academically or socially. Hence, there is no competition with anyone but yourself.
Don't assume so easily on the types of schools other people go to. I'm not just talking about an all girls school or liberal arts school either. Some thing goes towards Public and Private schools. We just decide to take different path that we think it suites us better.

Good post! I went to an all girls high school and it was the best thing that ever happened to me.
People are apt to make assumptions too soon. It's annoying, but you seem to handle it well.
I go to an all-girls liberal arts college and experianced the same thing. Good post.
