I love sport, especially bodybuilding, and protein drinks help me gain a little weight.
"...Millions of people drink protein shakes every day. They're the ideal health food: delicious, convenient, portable, and (usually) highly nutritious. Whether you're trying to lose weight, build muscle, or just improve your health, protein shakes can be an incredibly effective way to reach your goals.
A good protein shake can help you:
- increase your energy levels
- boost your metabolism to burn fat quickly (and safely)
- increase your lean muscle mass
- enhance your immune system
- reduce/eliminate your appetite and food cravings
- increase your heart health
- lower cholesterol and blood pressure
- promote healing and recovery
Unfortunately the tasty, often expensive, concoctions you get at your local "smoothie" shop probably aren't your best options. The recipes used at these places are geared much more toward taste than nutrition. Simply put, they're loaded with sugar -- often 30 grams or more -- and frequently have no more than 10 or 15 grams of protein. That nutritional profile is much closer to a milk shake than a protein shake!.."
I use this protein drink recipe:
Ingredients:
1 cup Vanilla honey ice milk
1 cup Raw milk
1 Banana, peeled
and cut in chunks
3 Pecans, broken
2 tablespoons Raw wheat germ
2 tablespoons Protein powder
Directions:
Combine ice milk, raw milk, banana, pecans, wheat germ, and protein powder in blender container. Blend until smooth but still thick. Pour into chilled glass.

Sounds really yummy! Thanks for the recipe. How do you think it would taste with soy, rice, or almond milk rather than dairy?
