Former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney is seeking the Republican nomination for the 2008 United States presidential campaign.
If elected, Romney will be the first Mormon President of the United States. His political history includes governorship of Massachussetts from 2002-2006, during which time he implemented a college scholarship program for the top 25% of Massachusetts high school students, signed legislation mandating every citizen own health insurance, and proposed "Melanie's Bill," which toughens state laws against drunk driving in the name of 13-year-old drunk driving victim Melanie Powell.
Two of his main campaign issues for the presidency include establishing affordable health care for all Americans and lowering taxes. His presidential campaign's website explains his position on other key issues.
Given this information and what you might already know, what questions might you like to ask Mitt Romney?

I'm a grassroots leader in Michigan.
He's a really cool guy.
I want to know his position on homeschooling, what restrictions he would impose, etc.

In the past you have dennounced the practice of polygamy but you grand-father had 12 wives. You've also made jokes," marriage is between and man and woman and a woman." Do you think your contradictory stance on this issue affects your campaign?
I've seen Romney speak 3 times, watched all the debates, and personally met him and I've never heard him ever joke about polygamous marriages. I do know his favorite joke is that Mormon is the only front runner to have been married only once.

``[He] is the only front runner to have been married only once.``
Actually, none of the leading Democrat candidates has ever been divorced, but the Republicans have eight marriages between their four leading candidates, all due to divorces and remarriages.
I have always found it ironic and yet not coincidental that the neoRepublican and Evangelical types who hypocritically clang the loudest bells about ``family values`` and how my marriage is going to destroy Western Civilization are the ones who can`t keep their own families and marriages together.
My question for Mitt Romney would be ``Why should I vote for someone who is so opportunistic that he was only willing to speak in favor of human rights in a state where it was politically advantageous, but has no use for his former stance when he`s courting the religious right.`` Actually, I guess that`s kind of a leading question, but I`m sure his answer would be nothing but rhetoric anyway.
Your health care reform plan includes actions to put a cap on medical malpractice suits. Can you give us a number, or at least a figure estimate (7, 6, or 5 figures?) of what this cap will be? Also, do you plan to eliminate the availability of "free rider" health care for illegal immigrants in emergency rooms? How do they fit into your health care changes?
How do you plan to implement a better strategy for screening immigrants? Do you support amnesty for the current illegals in this country?
Do you plan to pursue nuclear power more ardently than the Bush administration?
Will you re-enter American children in international math and science exams, which we have in recent years pulled out of, so that we can better compare ourselves internationally?
Do you plan to provide more or less support for NASA?
What accomplishment are you most proud of as Governor of Massachusetts? What do you most want to accomplish in the future as President?
How would you provide a college scholarship program in other states?
No way will there be a Mormon President!
That's not a question but this is.
How do you honestly believe that you could become the next President of the United States?
America will be an even bigger laughing stock to the rest of the world if that ever happened.
Your beliefs influence your actions and thoughts and rational, no matter what they are. And if you actually believe in the ridiculous story of Mormonism, what else will you fall for.
Even though it does seem that I am criticizing the religion, that's not my intention.
I believe that everyone should believe whatever they want, but I do not think he is responsible enough to run this country
If you are not criticizing the religion, then why would you make such a condescending comment that has nothing to do with his actual platform?
Personal attacks are generally not tolerated well by others.
P.S. Kennedy was the first Catholic President and people said similar things before her was elected.
I would ask him if how he felt about his religion being the most prominent facet of his campaign, and his reaction to how his offerings on his faith were received by the news media, and portrayed to the general public.
Since his "religion" speech, I would like to ask him his thoughts on Wicca and Paganism. I would like to know if these beliefs will be allowed the same freedoms and respects that all other religions are allowed. Or do those that practice religions other than the main ones have to continue remaining anonymous?
