More Smoking Health Risks

Yet again, there are more reasons as to why people should not smoke and more reasons why second-hand smoke is just so bad.

"LONDON - Exposure to second-hand smoke can increase a person’s risk of developing glucose intolerance which is a precursor to diabetes, according to research reported on Friday."

"They noted that passive smoke contains similar toxins to active smoke but is produced at different temperatures and in different conditions so some toxic substances are even more concentrated in passive smoke."

I find it so impolite when people smoke near me.  Now here in CT there are so many laws against smoking (you can't smoke in many public places like restaurants, bars, etc) and it is so nice that when I go to another state without these laws it's like I can feel my lungs turning black as I breathe in other people's second-hand smoke.  It's just rude that they are killing me due to their addiction.

Now here's even more dangers of smoking and breathing in second-hand smoke.  Now I'm pretty sure this won't stop anyone from smoking because, well, if they're willing to smoke knowing the side effects such as cancer and death, then I don't think they'll really care about the chance of getting diabetes.  But more states need to pass these anti-smoking laws so that non-smokers don't have to breathe all of these toxins in when they are at public places.  It just isn't fair at all.

i know..it really makes me mad when someone comes and stands right next to me and starts smoking..it makes me feel like i'm choking..i'm so glad that illinois is moving towards banning smoke in public places esp restaurants..

It was sooo nice when Conneticut made it illegal to smoke in restaurants. It's just so much harder to go to places in other states where smoking is allowed still because here I'm used to never having to smell smoke.

i know..i mean yea its a personal choice to smoke or not to smoke and its not infringing (spelling?) on smoker's personal freedom cuz they are putting our nonsmoking health at risk by smoking around us..you are given freedom of choice as long as your choices dont put other people at risk..

I think its extremely inpolite to smoke in public. Some people think its hot or attractive,it just makes me sick frankly. Even if you do smoke, doesn't the fact that your teeth are gonna be stained for the rest of your life bother you?? and when your next girlfriend/boyfriend wants to kiss you they think twice.

In restuarants in Durban I don't find that it helps to have a smoking section because as the door open the odour is so strong it actually makes the situation worse.once I was in a casino and I was seriously disturbed in there they had a selection of slots in a different section just for smokers,so they could smoke and gamble,I don't think there's a better way to waste your money!

OK there are a lot of things that doctors blame on smoking because they just have no clue what caused it. My friend has NEVER smoked and does not hang around when someone is smoking. But yet she went to the doctors and had an x-ray and He he... asked her how long she has been smoking. She said she never has and he was lost.
