Sheep are the dumbest animals on the planet. They are so helpless. If a sheep falls over on its back, it cannot right itself. When it is stuck in this position, the sheep is "cast." While stuck here, fluid begins to fill its lungs and it starts to suffocate. Then a shepherd has to come and right the sheep and hold it on its feet until the fluid leaves its lungs. And now the political connection...
As my pastor was giving this illustration, a very...intriguing?...picture came to mind. Imagine this with me. Superimpose the faces of Obama, Clinton, and Edwards onto sheep. Take note, this is supposed to look like a corny Flash video in your mind. The Clinton sheep runs, rams into Obama, and he falls onto his back. Obama is stuck on his back, flailing his nubby legs trying to right himself. A shepherd, which is played by a political advisor or speechwriter, rights Obama. As soon as he is better, Obama rams into Clinton and knocks her over. She is stuck in the same predicament he was in. In the meantime, Obama is laughing and Edwards comes and knocks Obama over. It continues like this with someone always stuck on their back and "shepherds" helping them up. Of course, the same thing is happening in the Republican arena.
In case I am not entirely clear, let me make myself clearer. Some days, it seems like all the presidential candidates do is knock each other. Right now, Democrats are trying to knock other Democrats and Republicans are also knocking their won kind. Soon, the main focus will shift to Democrats knocking Republicans and vice-versa. I realize that knocking down the opposition is a very vital strategy for all elections, but I do not want this to be the only strategy politicians use to get my vote. I want a candidate who takes the high road. Maybe I am asking too much. Maybe knocking the opposition is the only way anyone can win anymore.
So, politicians: enjoy your political game of sheep tipping. Winner wins all.
Political Sheep Tipping?
