GLOBAL WARMING

To be quite honest, I haven't really given much thought about one of the most discussed world issues, Global Warming, until now. From what I’ve heard and watched on news several years on the past, the main cause of Global Warming is the constant collection of carbon dioxide and other air pollution in the earth’s atmosphere throughout the years of mankind. These collection of carbon dioxide and other pollution in the earth’s atmosphere is creating this thickening blanket surrounding the earth, trapping the heat that the sun gives off day after day and causing the planet to constantly warm up. Because of this, the polar icecaps are slowly melting, causing constant rise on earth’s water level as time passes. If this continues, the earth will be engulfed in water, causing floods to many countries. Also, the constant rise in temperature will cause wild fires across the world. One of the countries that will be greatly affected by Global Warming is the United States. The largest sources of carbon dioxide pollution on United States are the coal-burning power plants. Every year, these power plants produce about 2.5 billion tons on carbon dioxide. The second largest sources of pollution on the United States are automobiles because the average person owns two or more automobile. Automobiles alone produce 1.5 billion tons of carbon dioxide annually. The fastest rate of temperature rise in average global temperature was recorded in the past 50 years. In 2002, several states, such Arizona, Colorado, and Oregon, has experienced their worst wildfires. On other states, such as Colorado, Kansas, and Montana, experienced dangerous dust storms due to drought cause by Global Warming. Also, floods occurred on other states, such as Montana, North Dakota, and Texas, and caused hundreds of millions of dollars in damage. As a residence of the state of Arizona, I am greatly affected by this issue. Not only I am concerned for myself, I am also concerned for my future kids and grand kids because Global Warming will get a lot worst in the future. According to CNAS (Center for a New American Security), by 2040, there would be an average increase in global temperature of 2.6°C. Also, by 2100, the average increase in global temperature is 5.6°C, which is catastrophic. Just imagining what would happen in the future is terrifying. However, technology has advance greatly in the past decades allowing to make cars that run cleaner and burn less gas, modernize power plants and create electricity from nonpolluting sources, and reduce the use of electricity through energy efficiency. On my part, although it’s small, I will try my best to prevent Global Warming by reducing my electricity use, lessen my use of gas, and encourage the future generation to do the same.

Paragraphs are awesome. People don't like reading a big block of text.

Good ideas, but what should we do?

The models are there to scare you. The predictions have no basis in reality and they have shown that they can neither accurately predict the past or the future.

For example, despite the fact that more carbon dioxide has been pumped into the air in the last decade than at any point in human history, global warming seems to have stopped. There has been no significant warming since the late 1990s. This winter was historically cold across much of the earth. The models that you are worrying about predicted something quite different. Perhaps the models don't work and the predictions are just bullshit..

I think the jury is stll out on global warming. The evidence is starting to mount that is was all a bunch of irrational hysteria.
