Is the United States ready for a female president? That is a question I am sure many will ask in the coming months before the primaries.
I personally believe that the United States is not ready for a female president. Though I do agree that a female president would be a good thing that is long overdue, I do not believe that Hilary Clinton is the correct person for the job. Her platform has been nothing less that wishy-washy and there are far too many Hilary Haters for her to be a plausible candidate for the presidency.
Even if Hilary does make it through the primaries, will she have enough supporters to win the presidency? I think not. This is easy for me to believe because the United States is simply not ready for a female president. This is especially true because no matter what people say, there are still far too many misogynists out there.

i don't really get what you're saying.
i mean i understand, and i do agree with you that hillary (actually she's probably the candidate with the most experience and i really think she could do a good job, but whatever) is far too polarizing a candidate to win this particular election...
and yeah, there are a lot of people out there that still have outdated ideas about gender.
but i hardly think that means the country isn't ready for a female president. in fact, i think it means that we could USE a female president so some of these idiots that think women aren't as good as men can get their heads out of their asses and realize that we're probably better leaders than they are.

:) but really that is your personal opinion and many seem to agree with you
i just think i have to vote for who is the best for the job
regardless of race/class/ethnicity/religion/gender/sexual preference
Yeah, cuz i'm lke that and that's how other people should be

This is how I will vote, based upon whom I think is most qualified and whom I think will work the hardest in getting our contry back on its feet again.
The current administration just seems to have blurred all kinds of lines and I'd like to get back to basics. We need to get our petro prices under control, now our dairy and produce prices are quickly rising... The FED just cut back a .5 % rate.. will we actually see and feel this effect?
I want someone who will get back to basics.

I'm a conservative and will NOT be giving any support to Hillary. This has nothing to do with her Gender, but her agenda. She is WAY too far on the socialist side of the political field for me to remotely consider for the job of leading a Democratic Republic like our great nation.
If there were a conservative woman in the field and she would have views that I would agree with, then yes, I'd have no problem voting for her. I am not sexist. I vew men and women as equal. (we are not the SAME.... but we are equal.)
The only hesitation I would have would be how a female president might be viewed by certain middle eastern countries, which place a very low value on women. However, they already hate us for our success and for not being like them, so that hesitation is fleeting.
Hillary? Not in a million years. A Conervative Woman candidate? Sure.
right, I agree 110 percent
NOT but i'll let you think that if it helps you hate Hillary more

first... why would the way that those in the middle east treat women affect what I think of a soclaist like hillary?
second, what do you call it when women are beaten and raped for showing 'too much' of their bodies (which could vary from showing their face to showing their wrists and ankles in public)? What do you call it when women are beaten for going to the market without their husband to escort them?
What do you call it? I call it a pretty sexist society in which women are not valued.
But, again... why would the way that they treat women there affect what I think of Hillary? She's a liberal, I'm a conservative. Wouldn't it be stupid for a conservative to support a liberal for President?
you do realize that the girl you just lectured on middle eastern countries is a muslim, right?
try going to vatican city and telling the pope he's doing his job wrong next.

but how do i change the views of someone who thinks he knows everything
MOST of these people have not even picked up a book or watched a documentery (an objective one) and
Middle Eastern Countries place low value on women-that's the BS they want people to believe so we can easily live with hating them and killing them or liberating them
but i feel like giving up-there are too many people who think they are right just because of one or two stories they have come across that paint the picture of a place in one way
WHATEVER_ frustrated and sick of ignorance
i say America places a low value on women-"women earn only 77 cents for every dollar men earn" washington post and
those "sexist" countries are not a republic of separation of religion v state that have a constitution and amendments claiming equal opportunity- fair treatment and all that other Bull they say to make you think that the country is great
no- the ideas the country supports in theory are great but the actual reality of what it is a joke

I believe America is a very strong country that when the going gets rough we all come together.
Are we ready for a Female president? my answer is yes, will we get one anytime soon? probably not. When the right female comes along we will know and vote for that person.
So, you actually DO think we're ready, but you don't agree with the likely candidate. I would have to agree with you on that.
I agree. Hilary Clinton is much too jaded and cynical. I bleive there will be a female President eventually. If we're ready for it now is another matter. We're not even ready for Katie Couric on the news. How can we have a female President when we're not even willing to watch the first female new anchor? And for that matter, are we even ready for an African-American President? Is 2008 too much too sonn? Only time will tell.
i wouldn't say we're not ready for a female news anchor either, i just think katie couric is extremely obnoxious. frankly i hate morning news anyway, it's usually all irrelevant tripe.

Whenever I hear this question I get irked. "Obama's black, Hillary's a woman, Romney is Mormon--is America ready?" Well we damn well should be! Because it really doesn't factor on iota into how they'll govern! Everyone was freaking the fuck out when Kennedy was elected, being Catholic. The popular thinking was that the U.S. would be handed over to the Pope. Guess what didn't happen? So the U.S. is really not going to be handed over to the NAACP or "Ms." Magazine or the spectral ghost of Joseph Smith. It'll be handed over to a liberal, a conservative, or a moderate, or some horrible mutant of the three that just wants to get reelected.
