"They're not a silver bullet that solves every single communication problem," but they get the process started, Davis said.                                                                                                                                                                                                         The latest additions to hospitals are picture boards. These are designed for patients who have medical barriers; so that they may get the care they need also so that they may recieve the best care possible.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                               Full story         http://www.cnn.com/2007/HEALTH/09/03/emergency.picture.board.ap/index.html                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                 What in the process of bettering our medical services. When it comes down to medical problems one of the leading problems that result in lack of proper care and mistakes is the inability to understand the patients. These new boards allow the patient to point to what is bothering them such as stomach aches, back pains, heat waves, or even falling down. This is surely a huge leap in the process of bettering the United States medical care and extending it to different people of all languages. I am just surprised it took so long for them to come up with the system. After all in Japan they have point to menus for restaurants. Still one has to be pleased at this new development and hope it will lead to the best results possible.

So is this for people that don't know the language of the country? Or just to help doctors by allowing the patient to specifically show what's wrong with them?

It is for people who do not know the language so that doctors can see what is bothering them.
