Why do people go to church to listen to a man in a suit (that they've all {more that likely} helpled pay for) talk about his opinion and interpretation of a book that they can read on their own? On the regular, there are many preachers, pastors, reverends, and bishops who are'nt even living the life that they're encouraging you to live.
I just don't understand.
Even if they do save abstain until marriage; does it give them the right to sleep with anyone outside of their marriage once they've said their vows.
They say you should'nt judge.
Well, what about when they disown or look down on someone whom made a mistake?
I need to know why church is even necessary.

You are right some preachers don't do what they say you should but I think most Christians go to church because of the "first day of the week" thing. I'm pretty sure it says somewhere in Matthew that you should fellowship together.
"Our politics are our deepest forms of expression, they mirror our past experiences and reflect our dreams and aspirations for the future."
Blah. um... this is why the religious should not be married!!
*COUGH*COUGH*CATHOLICS*COUGH*
Now, i will admit that catholics have a bad wrap, and people are quick to point out when someone claiming to be catholic messes up. badly.
BUT Catholics have a handy little book called the Catechism of the Catholic Church (we call it the CCC) that pretty much has answers to any question you could ask,and reasons for it, and evidence backing up those reasons.
give me a few minutes to go look up the exact reasons why church is neccessary, but I know it has something to do with humans being social creatures, and we need groups to function at our best.... also, somethin about Jesus started the church... lemme go look it up for you!
1897 "Human society can be neither well-ordered nor prosperous unless it has some people invested with legitimate authority to preserve its institutions and to devote themselves as far as is necessary to work and care for the good of all."15
By "authority" one means the quality by virtue of which persons or institutions make laws and give orders to men and expect obedience from them.
Hebrews 10:25
Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching.

I am going to make a distinction here. We are not required to go to the "church" building to worship God. We are required to attend a mass every Sunday unless there are extraordinary circumstances (i.e. illness, unavailability of a priest).
Why do I make this distinction? Our military men and women in Iraq and Afghanistan attend mass in tents and even in the open air. I have attended mass in a meeting room at Bryce National Park as the nearest parish was a half days drive away. In remote missionary areas often there is not a church to worship in so mass is held under some type of multipurpose cover or in the open air. The funeral masses for Mother Teresa and Pope JPII were done in the open air rather than a church building as to meet the needs of the faithful.
What is most important part of attending mass is that we are partaking in the Eucharist as Jesus told us to not that we are doing it in a specific location set aside for the purpose (although a specific location is prefered when available).
The root of the word "communion" is also the same root as the word "community". That's IMPORTANT to the understanding of this entire concept!
Jesus did not expect us to go out and worship Him by ourselves under a tree in the woods, He told us that we needed to "do unto others", in other words He said we needed to embrace our 'community' in charity and in diverse ways. We fall terribly short when we think that we can do it all alone.
In my local parish, we don't even call ourselves a "church", we are a "community". Part of worshipping God is being part of that Community. The same community we associate with when we take "communion" is the one we are called to serve. But it's more than that ~ when you SERVE the community you worship God. Worship is not confined to "going to church" because part of worship is doing what God asks you to do. And God's requirement of you does not end by going to church weekly or even DAILY. We are ALL called to serve outside of "church".
Yes, going to church is important, and yes, our feeding on spiritual food is very important as well, but we are also called to SERVE just as Jesus served. You cannot serve yourself, you can only serve within a larger group, and that service takes place in the COMMUNITY where you are.
Part of worship is doing those things that please God, such as the service we do for others, which often ends up to be an end in and of itself. But part of worship is that we conform ourselves to what God has asked us to do, in this case, the Mass as well as service to others. It is not up to God to accomodate us, it is up to us to conform to God, so if our obligation to God is to go to Mass as well as to serve others, then that is what we do.
It is a hard thing to understand, perhaps, and harder when you are younger and full of the idea of "justice" and "right" but God is in control here. You can disagree, but you can't change what God has chosen to be the "rules". Your job is not to convert God to what you believe, it is to conform your life to the Will of God. That may be a hard thing to understand in our "anything goes" world, but, you see, perhaps with God, it isn't "anything goes", so you are forced to choose between "anything goes" and "God". I pray you choose well!
A priest once taught this parable in school to our children.
Consider this..
Our church is like a barbecue pit. We are the coals. Our flames glow bright when all the coals are touching each other. We get warmth, we get life, and we get nourishment when we are together. We can make changes for good...like the preparation of a meal.
But separate one coal from the flame...and it burns out.
Just like a broken branch from the vine...
We need the vine, we need to be together to sustain life.
That's why we go to church to worship God....We need the community and fellowship of others to sustain our faith!.
... P.S. I just copied and pasted bts and peieces here and there. I hope some information here can help you!
but if it doesnt, my advice is find a priest, a CATHOLIC preist, who has SPECIFICALLY TAKEN A VOW OF POVERTY AND STUCK BY IT, and ask him!!!
Im sorry I'm intitled to my own opinion and I have concerns that others may, or may not have.
And I wasn't even talking about the catholic religion. If you read the blog, possibly a tad bit more carefully than you might have realized that I never once said anything about a priest. O, and I find it highly impossible for me to critsize the practice of a religion I barely know anything about.
So with no further a due, as I stated previously.. Excuse me!
