In news recently,
China has a growing problem. Did you know that China accounts for over half of the world's deaths for stomach cancer?[1] Everyday China is facing more western problems."The stomach cancer kills about 300,000 people in China a year and there are 400,000 new cases reported annually"[5]. It is a growing trend that they are changing to western diets, picking up western traditions, and have western effects. It was a time when China had there own traditions. It was known that there citizens lived longer. Now the projections are not as picture perfect.Only lung and liver cancer kills more people than stomach cancer in China, quoted Jin Maolin, a doctor at Peking University[5]."Many studies have shown that Asian women increase their risk of breast cancer when they move to North America and adopt our eating habits."[3]
Aside from food it is a growing trend in China to smoke cigarettes. Did they not learn from the harm smoking has done to our country. "one-third of cancer deaths each year are attributed to a poor diet, eating right is one of the most important things you can do to protect yourself"[4]
So I did some research to find out what was going on. I found that there are some foods that help fight cancer. Fruits and vegetables seem to be an excellent food. According to two of my sources. Eat foods with antioxidants that help absorb free radicals.[4] Antioxidants are in teas. Black tea and green tea can help fight ovarian cancers."Women who drank one cup of tea a day had a 24 percent reduced risk of ovarian cancer as compared to women who never or seldom drank tea."[4]Tea lovers who drank two or more cups of tea had reduced their risk of ovarian cancer by 46 percent, according to the study in the Archives of Internal Medicine. There is a great list provided at www.ahealthyme.com so check that out.
In the early 1990's my grandmother had 1/2 of her stomach removed. I did not know what that meant until I got old enough to know what the heck stomach cancer was. They had recommended that my grandmother have chemotherapy to remove all the other cancer stuff but she did not do it. She is still living to this day. I always wondered how long could she live if she gone through the chemotherapy. It is just a blessing she is still alive at this point. When I think of procedures like chemotherapy and dialysis and such I just think of how it must make the person feel. It may save lives but it sound like toucher.
