Texas' governor, Rick Perry, and his wife Anita, will be enjoying a lavish home equipped with a guesthouse, a heated pool, and an outdoor kitchen, at the taxpayers' expense of $9,900.00 per month1 while the governor's mansion is undergoing renovations. How appalling is this? As a fellow Texan that pays my share of taxes, I am absolutely infuriated by this!
It seems to me that the $9,900.00 per month that will be spent paying for the Perry's rental mansion could be better used in paying for programs, etc. to assist in other, more detrimental areas of the state's wellbeing.
Here are some of the ways in which I think the money could be better used:
~Help fund programs that will ensure that the 16.9% of Texans whose incomes are at or below poverty level have enough food to eat.2
~Help fund educational programs that will assist the 3,117,095 Texans who do not have their high school diplomas or equivalencies obtain an education.2
~Help create training programs that will provide the 807,752 unemployed Texans (7.0%) with the tools and resources needed to enter the job market.2
~Help create a fund to provide complete plumbing facilities to the 37,400 Texas homes that do not have them.2
~Help the 1,400,000 (20.2%) uninsured Texas children receive the medical and dental check-ups they need.2
I, personally, think it is insulting that our governor believes he deserves to live comfortably in a home that costs almost $10,000 per month while we have so many of our state's people who have no choice but to go without things they desperately need such as food and medical attention!

Why is that governor and his wife telling people what they're using all of that money for because don't they feel that its none of anybody's business what they're using that money for? Obviously not and they shouldn't tell people what they're using all of that money for because its wrong because telling other people that can also make them jealous, annoyed, and angry.
That is outrageous!!!
I completely agree!

As a texan, I am appalled! Why is it our responsibility to pay for his extravagance? Neither of my parents have health insurance at the moment & mine isn't even valid because the college I'm attending is in a different county, but Perry needs a rental mansion ... WOW. It's good to know where we stand in our representative's priorities.
EXACTLY! But, I guess them having an outdoor kitchen so they can entertain guests next to their heated pool is more important than our families having health insurance!
