response to "Mitt Romney wants to do WHAT with financial aid?"

I apologize if I offended anyone by my blog about Mitt Romney giving out more financial aid to math and science majors than other majors. I didn't mean to say that math and science majors wouldn't be able to read or imply that they were in any way less educated than other majors. They are extremely smart and pursue a career I would never have the ability to do. What I meant was that they will not be as familiar with literature than they otherwise would be, and I think that everyone should read at least a little to learn new ideas about people and other cultures or just to enjoy a good story. And I do have a very overactive imagination; I imagine the worst possible thing that could happen. I guess I got carried away.

You don't have to be a liberal arts majors to do these things. In fact, being a liberal arts major takes away from one's capability for independent thinking.

Your apology still smacks of implying that those of us who choose technical majors that are in demand to society and more productive overall are lacking in culture and illiterate.

I understand what you are saying; but I am offended by how you say it. The reason why is I feel that you are encouraging the image of "unsocialized nerd" and steering people away from the math and science majors that this country so desperately needs.

I wish your explanation would have been longer so I know what you are referring to. lol I had to go back to your older blog to recap some of the things you say. Well, I'm not going to argue with you since you're apologizing in the hope that it will end the conflicts with other bloggers. You do know that no matter what major you go into, you are required to take some liberal arts classes right?

I've seen many blogs coming out to apologize to the public. It's really not needed. There will always be people disagreeing with you. At least, you are learning something new from these bloggers and seeing the other side of the coin. This is what makes blogs so great. Even I have been bad comments before. Sometimes, I do not even say what I truly believe in just to boost some drama. lol But yeah...my point is that you don't have to apologize for having different point of views from others. As long as you take their opinions into consideration as well...it's all good. =D
