I used to think that my parents were always right. I'm sure a lot of other people have felt this way.
Now that I'm older, I've come to understand somethings that my parents haven't, mainly from growing up in this generation. They've always taught me great personal values, but I've come to realize that some of the things that my dad cites as fact is mere personal opinion. Sometimes he may have a point, but I feel like I've been a fool my whole life for just following his ideas and beliefs.
From now on, it's time that I start listening to myself when it comes to the ideas and beliefs that I value.

Good for you for finding your own voice and opinion. It can be hard hearing opinions and basically having them given to you when you are with your parents.
Yeah, it's hard formulating your own opinion when it seems you always have someone else's being shoved down your throat. That's why I'm trying desperately to go away to college, to get away from that.
