pessimistic philosophy

throughout the ages humanity has conquered many things. we have conquered our lack of knowledge. from the caves we have tools and clothing. from there knowledge soon had become something "valuable," something better not to share, unless something of equal "value," would be traded. where the idea that things actually have worth came into the picture, no one knows, but i do know this, as soon as someone thought "maybe it'd be better if i didn't tell them about this," we were doomed.

we have conquered the communication over long distances, people can now talk, type, text, or write someone on the other side of this spinning hell-hole and at most it will take about a week, at most, to get to that someone else. though we can now do this, our communication skills have not improved. in fact they have only worsened. sure we have all these cool words that are hard to pronounce, hard to read even, but we still have stupid petty disputes over the most meaningless things. skin color, sexual orientation,( here's my thoughts on homosexuality, if they want to do their part in saving this planet by making sure that there are less people to be born then let them. over-population is already a pandemic ) musical reference, place of origin, political party, etc. we are all the same. each snowflake is still a snowflake. i am unique, just like everyone else

we have conquered the night even, with our 100 watt pieces of the sun, shining bright and keeping our eyes open and our minds awake. a lot of good that has done. we know stay up to the wee hours of the morn, doing nothing but patting ourselves on the back and hugging ourselves about how "great" we are. lack of sleep plagues most americans, do you realize how many sleeping pills there are out there? i am not even talking perscription. many. too many in fact.

we think that we are so great with our chemicals that make us do or feel things differently, but really all we are is self-proclaimed doctors trading sadness for numbness. i wonder if it is human nature to run from our problems and let them proliferate, instead of fixing them before they start. the average prescription carries more side-effects than the actual ailment. i don't think that many people realize this. i'd rather live with allergies than suffer from explosive diarrhea, chronic headaches, and risk of heart attacks, just so i can stop sneezing.

yes, my dear reader, we have conquered many things, except ourselves. we have not climbed that mountain yet. sure we have stomped around the base of that mountain for years now, but have we really learned anything? no, just more questions, with the ones we had previous still unanswered. maybe the human mind is just too inquisitive. maybe we weren't meant to know everything.

maybe we weren't created in "His" image, but from "His" imagination. if so, then this "God" guy seriously needs to go to a freaking shrink. he has some serious control issues for someone who "gave" us free-will. if he is all-powerful and all-knowing, how then how are we free to make our own choices? wouldn't he know already, and therefore already set into motion what we will do, before we are even born? if he knows then why all the fuss about the devil and the apocalypse? maybe because he has lied to us? or we are too caught up playing a two-thousand year old game of telephone?

it frightens me how used to all of this we already are.

You remind me of Dexter, a la Showtime. Pessimistic, insightful, dry, and completely lost all at the same time.
