I heard on the news this morning that the State of Mississippi, in an effort to ban "most" abortion's in that state passed the state Senate on Wednesday, leading abortion -rights advocates to protest "a sad day in the state of Mississippi".
This disgusts me....What about the wishes of us women? Who and why does it give anyone a right to our body and what we choose to do with it? This is a complete attack on women. What do the uptight men in the Senate know anything about what a women goes through and what a woman should do??
They claim their intent is to go after providers, but who will be the provider for teh rape and incest victims?????
This just completely turned my stomach this morning!
Any thoughts????

They passed what? You can't pass a state Senate... you can only pass something from the state Senate. What, specifically, does the law say?
While I don't condone abortion in any way, I'm not sure it's such a good idea to ban it, since women are going to want to have one anyway. I think there needs to be a strict system for getting an abortion, including counseling and that it should be seen as a last resort (except when the mother's life is immediately threatened, or she is raped). From what I've heard about Mississippi's laws from another blog, they highly value the life of the child, so much so that they have laws protecting them. I'm not sure I agree with these laws, but the progression is logical.

The Senate bill 2795, one of 3 abortion-related bills the senate approved, prohibits abortions ...the bill passed 35-4 ...however the bill still needs House approval...

Well, is it possible that they are just trying to go the route South Dakota did, get it placed on a balot for voting?
That is sad if they are really trying to pass this. I don't know if I could ever get an abortion - but I know I can't tell someone else they cannot.

They are trying to pass a bill that will make it mandatory for women to hear the heartbeat of the baby before they get an abortion. Read and research before you post.

A bill passed by the Mississippi Senate requires doctors in Mississippi to give a woman considering an abortion the chance to listen to her fetal or embryonic heartbeat and view a sonogram. Republican Senate Public Health Committee Chairman Alan Nunnelee, of Tupelo, has said some women will change their minds about abortions if they hear a heartbeat or see a sonogram. The bill was one of two passed by the Senate addressing abortions. The second bill would require minors who don't have parental consent to wait until they get a court's permission before undergoing an abortion. Both bills now go to the House for more consideration and will likely face strong opposition. Abortion rights activists say they will fight the proposals. Planned Parenthood of Alabama issued a news release, criticizing the Senate action. A third bill awaiting action in the Senate would ban almost all abortions in Mississippi, although lawmakers acknowledge such a prohibition couldn't be enforced unless the U-S Supreme Court overturns Roe versus Wade, its 1973 decision that legalized abortion.

Dont really matter anyway, there are no abortion clinics here. I think that it is only done by private physicians.
Well, that's a different story!
Women should hear the heartbeat, if there is one, or see a sonogram. This type of choice should not be made lightly as either choice comes with a lot of consequences. There are times when this will change a person's mind; especially in cases where they decide quickly on an abortion without looking at other options or if they're just scared. This will put every thing into perspective.
Every thing must be considered before this choice is made. And after every thing is said and done and all information is brought out, then whatever choice the woman makes should be supported.

I completely agree with that.
Yeah, the first two bills are completely logical. I don't really see anything wrong with them. Abortion should only be a last resort, and these will help ensure that.
