Ever feel dumb because everyone knows where north, west south and east is? I'm not talking about reading a map, but actually being in a place and trying to get somewhere else. I really should know better. When people ask me about how to get from point A to point B, I always go like umm...not sure..., and then I refer them to someone else. And sometimes, I know how to get to some places that are around the area that I work, just that I'm afraid if I give someone directions, they'll be confused. And, of course, when it is my turn to get somewhere, and I ask people how to get to places, they'll be like, go west two blocks, then south three blocks, etc...and I am just standing there like, can you repeat, but do the finger pointing and arm gestures? And please be patient with repeating the directions, or I'll be the one that's gonna be lost =P
Directions directions directions....

I know exactly what you mean. The majority of the people here, when asked for directions, will be like "turn south on such-and-such street, then when you reach this avenue turn north and it will be one the southeast corner of these crossroads" and I'm just looking at them like - okay, so south from here would be a left or right? It makes me feel rather stupid and small that I don't really know my cardinal directions unless I'm looking at a map.

I'm just so happy that I'm not the only one with this problem. I need specific lefts and rights, although most peple can tell from where the sun is. But what do they do at night? It's like everyone has a built in compass, except for people like me, who somehow missed out on that part.
