Plastic Surgery Anyone?

In Hollywood everyone has had work the tabloids claim.  It is a statement with truth.  We have seen women grow a chest overnight, enhance their lips to be of Angelina Jolie standard, lose fat around any section desireable... etc. etc.  Plastic surgery can go overboard as we have seen with Goldie, Tara Reid, Sharon Osbourn... again with the etc. etc.  But, most of the time it goes unnoticeable and we just figure it is their true physical appearance.  Aging is natural of course, but I don't see any problem with getting plastic surgery if it is going to make one feel more confident about their appearance.  There definitely is a boundary that shouldn't be crossed in order to avoid the plastic addiction, but an occasional procedure doesn't seem like a big deal to me.  So why do some people criticize so much?

It's the age old saying, "You should be happy with your own body". Most people are either jealous that others can get the plastic surgery and they can't or they feel it's best to accept your body as it is. I personally do not see a problem with plastic surgery as long as it doesn't go too far. If you have so many operations that none of your original self is there, that's a bit too much.

Read The Beauty Myth. It is one of the most mind altering books you can read. It is one of those books which after you are done reading it, you can't see the world in the same way. Check it out from your local public library or have them order it.

Even before reading this book, which delves into many facets and many levels in our Western culture, I objected to plastic surgery because it makes everyone look more and more alike. Utah happens to have a high rate for plastic surgery. It is big business here.

Another book I read once quipped briefly on plastic surgery that it is counter-evolutionary and joked that it will lead to two "beautiful" people mating and producing a baby that won't have either characteristics of these "beautiful" people. :-)

Plastic surgery is incredibly painful and must be redone as one gets older. It costs a lot of money and can be dangerous. When people are willing to invest financially so much, as well as pyschologically and physical harms to themself, just to look "beautiful", you know a culture's value system is toxic.

I think plastic sugery, like most things, isn't black and white.

Getting PS just because you don't have DD breasts, or you don't have a size 0 figure is wrong. It shouldn't be allowed. People should celebrate their lumps and bumps and be proud to be individual. I think its sad people think 'Everything will be fine if I look like Carmen Electra' It won't. It'll be as bad as it was before, just you'll look like Carmen Electra

But getting PS is okay sometimes. Like if people have scars they want rid of, or they have a facial feature which is making them underconfident and is having a serious impact on their lives. I think its okay then.

The major problem with getting plastic surgery is even though you go in thinking that you're only getting one little thing done, you could end up with the "plastic addiction" before you know it. I'm not completely against plastic surgery, but i think that there are better ways for someone to gain self confidence besides changing their appearance.

I know a girl who comes from a fairly rich area, girls there get nose jobs and new breasts for their 16th birthday. That's just wrong.
