The new building craze. Build green. And I am not talking about money, even though green building construction does cost more than average construction. Green products are products that are renewable, long-lasting, and recyclable. Although all those adjectives sound nice and promising, green products for building at least are not all they are cracked up to be. My biggest concern with green products is this: how often do you replace something not because it needs replacing but because it is out of style or you desire new? I would bet a majority of the time, even in home decorating, design, and construction. So what is the point of purchasing more costly materials that are "long-lasting" if you are just going to replace them anyway? On the flip-side these green products can be renewed and recycled, which is better for our envirnoment. My point I am trying to make is it is a bogus reason to use green products for natural durability because humans crave the new and exciting and it is just not economical to spend more on a product if you are going to replace it anyways. But, do use green products for the right reasons of conservation, and rejuvenation.
