President Bush

Hi There!!

If someone were to ask you what are your thoughts on George Bush and what is your opinion on Operation Iraqi Freedom, what would you say? In all honesty, I think George W. Bush is doing a pretty good job. If you really think about it, no matter what his decision is or would have been, he would have been damned if you do and damned if you don't. As President, you take an Oath to protect and serve this country to the best of your ability. However, if we were attacked on 9/11 and George Bush had not done anything about it and had waited to see what happened next, there would have been a lot of angry people wanting to know why we didn't stand up for ourselves or why we didnt retaliate back. On the other hand if George Bush had sent our Troops to Iraq (like he did) we would (still do) have people that would not be happy. They would probably be thinking that this is not our war/battle. We should stay out of this, etc, etc, etc.  Yet if we didnt go in and fight and help, people would have probably have been mad that we didnt stand up for our Country. So either way Bush would be damned if you do damned if you dont. The truth in the matter is that when you basically come down to the decision making and let's say you were the President, you really do not know what you would do in his position until you are in that type of position. As president you know that you can not please everyone nor will you be able to please everyone. No matter the situation or the choices made, there will always be atleast a dozen people that won't be happy. As the President of the United States, you need to make decisions based on your ethics, your morals, your values.  As long as you made the decision that you thought was best made, and that you are content and happy with, and can live with yourself with the decision that you made, then that is all that counts.

ummm.

well, actually after 9/11 we did do something--we sent troops to AFGHANISTAN which made a lot more sense, since that's where osama bin laden was though to be hiding, and where a lot of terrorist activity originates (even though most of the plane hijackers were from saudi arabia, and we're still on extremely friendly terms with them because it's economically profitable).

we didn't invade iraq until 2003, and even then it wasn't about "we need to stand up for ourselves" simply because 1)saddam hussein had no ties to al queda. that's been proven again and again and again. 2)one of the reasons for war was WMDs which, guess what, apparently didn't exist, since they were never found.

standing up for your country is one thing, which is what we did immediately after 9/11. the war in iraq was pointless, unrelated, and all it did was make the US the most hated country in the world. if you really want to stand up for your country, maybe you should worry about improving international relations so that if something so tragic happens again we'll actually have the support of other nations, instead of them probably thinking "those arrogant jerks deserved it."

and no, being president doesn't mean that you can just do what YOU think is right. you're elected by the people, to work FOR them---that means listening to public opinion and making rational choices, not just going along with your warmongering fundamentalist agenda.

Yes the president works for the people and IN the best interest of the people, however, he also talks and takes into consideration the thoughts from Secretary of War, and every other department as well and goes over all of facts and information that they have on hand and of what they were able to obtain. It's not like President Bush wakes up and says "Hmm.... I wonder how I can screw this up even more" and decide not to listen to his advisors, and everyone elses opinion that MATTERS. Clinton wouldnt even be able to be handle this situation, like he was a great President, he went and shut down a lot of our military bases and made military cut backs, atleast Bush was for War and about getting things done and helping out the other countries that need it. What did Clinton do that was soo great besides having sexual relations with Monica Lewenski? You mention Clinton's name and everyone thinks of Monica and his famous line "I did not have sexual relations with that person."

first of all, why bring clinton into this? he had his run, and republicans need to get over it.

second of all, since when does being for war make you a good president?

third of all, yes, president bush "listens" to those people, but once he was directly quoted as saying that if the only people left in this country that were for this war were him, his wife, and HIS DOG, he'd still go ahead with it. some leader he is.

IF you read Bush's life history you soon realize he has always been a fuck up. Everything he has tired to accomplish has ended in failure. As far as 9/11 goes, he had lots of information that something like this could happen and yet did nothing to prevent it. The Air Force was never called up and there was plenty of time to do this. Instead, Bush sat in a class room of children reading a book about a goat not knowing what to do. i"m sure where you get your information but if its Fox News you have a problem because Fox News is a propaganda machine for the White House and has nothing to do with news.
