I saw Geraldo at Large today=

The story is about a white couple, who took in a black child as a foster child. After two years they feel for him, and applied to make him a permanent part of the family. Sadly the kid got taken away from his loving family and was placed in a black family. The white parents fought in court, but lost. the court said that their rights had not been broken. Than someone who stood by the side of this decision said that the right thing was done. That kids should be with foster parents of the same race, to stop them from being looked at by others. That it's better to keep it this way. For the child and for the parents. That he knows parents don't see colors, but that others do.
I though of how extremely wrong this was. We are suppose to become more accepting, but when someone says that you can't have a child and adopt it if the color does not match, than that is wrong. Everyone was fine with the white people being the kids foster parents, but when they wanted to adopt him, he was off limits. Is that fair? Should it be legal? What about gays? Can't you also argue that gay parents should not have kids because people will look at them wrong?
The article about this story should show up at the link above soon, since I just saw it on tv today.
How can we accept people, when this happens?

With attitudes like this, instead of progressing to a better future, we are actually promoting race discrimination.
I agree.
Me too. What's next, prohibiting any more interracial couples to marry and have children because people will look at the children different?
Exactly! That type of thinking will only make it worse. So racist.
That's so sad that they won't let that happen. What about kids with mixed parents. It's similar situations.
It's amazing that this story is happening now. There was a similar story told on This American Life, NPR, this weekend. It was about a mother who was forced in court to choose between her white child and newborn interracial baby. The white son urged the mother, and judge to remove him. He told his mother, "[I know where home is. If they take my baby brother we will never see him again.]" This happened though in the 60's. I wish we would be past such ignorant ideas now.

Wait, so they wanted to take her biological kids away? That is so wrong. Why are people so ignorant...
Yes. The judge basically ruled that she is an unfit mother. The judge's wacky logic was to prevent the white son from being raised with the inter-racial son, which meant one son had to be taken from the mother. It is terrible, isn't it.

It is. Surely she sued the state right? Judges like that should be put in jail
Not in the 60's. It was against the law in the 60's for a white person to date a black person.
