Progression Over Years

I come from a moral-based, conformist, Mexican family. So much of that description might make you think that you wouldn't like to be part of a family like this, but I have to say that as times progress, so do people. I should change 'moral-based' into religious because I was raised with that fear most live with that you cannot do certain things or God will punish you or you will go to hell. To this day, I don't do certain things but since my family is based on religious beliefs, the morals are just part of what comes with that. These beliefs have penetrated my parents' and grandparents' ideology of what is wrong and what is right when it even comes to things that do not have to do anything with religion. For example, tattoos are a no-no to them, but I see it as art and that is where being conformist comes to play. Certain things shouldn't be done because since they are so used to the way things are, that is all they know about and are not so open to new opportunities. However, being that they have to live in a household with a fourteen and eighteen year old, they cannot help but accept certain things. My brother grew his hair very long and obviously got a lot of lip for it, and now he has a mohawk and do not make a big deal about it because they have become accustomed to that. The more that we expose them to things, the more they will accept. This also pertains my siblings' and my own distinct ways of expressing ourselves, dressing, and our interests have been adjusted because they no longer see these things in negative ways. My family, surprisingly have been very accepting to people whom 'cannot help but be the way they were born' which is what my mother says about homosexuals. A great majority of my friends are homosexual, and my family has always been fairily accepting of them, but my issue now is whether to reveal to them that i, myself, is bisexual.

Of course your parents will accept it. What else can they do?
