L'Enfant de Rêves (Child of Dreams)

L’Enfant de Rêves

(Child of Dreams)

Katharyn R. King

Hide inside the ebbing tide,

Child of Dreams,

And ease your stride.

Life offers many things, My Friend.

But through the Fray,

It’s as I say.

Pace yourself and

Live it right.

Or find yourself

Sans wing, sans flight.

Broken wings and

Porcelain heartstrings.

The sands of time,

My Child,

Are ephemeral and

Wild.

In your prime,

You have one quill,

One heart.

One will.

Strive for Love and

Live to Give.

The lion’s jaws are spread,

O Child of Dreams,

He thirsts for blood--the tears you shed.

The sun is setting,

Your page awaits.

What will you leave behind to fate ?

i don't like how fate is portrayed so evil. I don't think fate thirsts for blood.

This poem literally brought tears to my eyes...I was listening some heartrenching Lord of the Rings music as I was reading it....sometimes you just have those moments of raw emotion. This was one of them.

Yeah, that happens. Usually, the tears are because of the addition of music which set the tone for the sentiment.

I always know if I see something written in French (with English in parenthesis), it must be you and I always am drawn to reading them! I took three years of French and was in Paris earlier this summer. It really is a poetic and beautiful language. I also love how you incorporate little French phrases that make sense even if you don't know French "sans wings, sans flight" (without wings, without flight)...it just sounds so much better en francais! Love it!

Wait, who wrote this? I thought this was cited from another's authors book of poems!

This is good.

Have you ever considered posting a French version? I think it would be beautiful (and I can help you translate it, if need be)

Hm. That'd be wonderful to read!
And, yes, I agree that the poem would be beautiful in French. =)
Kudos miss!

WEll, it would probably sound better in french because typically anything said in french sounds beautiful.

What a wonderful poem...

It would be amazing to read it in French! I'm guessing that the lion symbolizes life and its vices??

Yes?

Beautiful. Beautiful. Beautiful! Brava!
