Why Boys are Better at Math

Socialization is a part of our daily lives, our communities, and our entire personalities. Don't deny it. And from day one, our parents, friends, schools and media has socialized us based on our sex, which is our anatomical definition, into our gender, which would be how you identify yourself, man or woman. They segragate us into different lines. Tell us boys do this, girls don't do that, give us different toys, and dress us in different colors. The end is result is two different cultures based on different genders, which we claim is genetic, but really is purely based on socialization. For example: boys are more often encouraged in school through praise, as well as oppurtunity. Boys are called on more often. Boys are also more encouraged to go into the math/sciences where as girls were often only taught course related to home economics, but are still more geared towards arts or feminine crafts than biology or chemistry. Feminist thinkers call out, "why do you systematically favor boys and hold back girls," where the institutions call up results like national SAT averages, where boys generally score 50 points better thangirls do, on the math portion, as evidence that boys are just innately better at math, and that's why they get more encouragement. Of those who opposed tests such as the SAT, of which, proponents have admitted is 9% better than random at predicted 1st year college grades, (9% better than random), researched into how boys and girls actually take the tests. It turns out girls were more likely to work through the answes before coming to a conclusion, whereas boys, saw it as a race against the clock to answer all th questions with the most probable answer. They saw it as a guessing game. So that makes them innately better at math and science.

The moral of the story: Start guessng on your SAT's ladies. We will take the chem lab by force!

My sister is a math major who does tutoring on the side. In the recent past she's done Pre-Algebra with a highschool freshman, Calc 1 with a college freshman and Business Math with an adult going back to school. One thing they had in common??? All guys!

Soli Deo Gloria! ~Gracenotes

In Asia, girls often outscore boys in math and sciences. It is not that they are biologically better. True, society does have an influence.
