You see them all the time. When you go out to eat. when your driving. The guy sleeping on the street, the guy on the freeway entrance holding the sign. the lady walking all over the town. The family living at the riverbed. We make fun of them all the time. We might pity them and give them a couple bucks for lunch. But what do we really do to help. The answer is nothing. It is my firm belief that one decision or lucky break separates everyone from sleeping on a queen size pillow top and a piece of concrete behind a downtown alley. I wonder if the positions were reversed and you did sleep on that concrete and that crazy bum had a queen size bed. I wonder if they would even give you a dollar knowing that you laughed and mocked them. Take a second to think about that. Because if you really saw wats going on you would understand that this not rooted in income disparity, nor is it rooted in education disparity. Those are valid reasons for the high poverty rate in america but the source of this problem is cultural differences. America is based on a system that is biased to a certain group of people. I think we all know who that certain group of people is. some people try and deny it. They Argue saying there are poor white people too. yes, this is true.but thats just the veil they put over Americas eyes to cover up the truth, the sleeping pill uncle Sam farce feeds us. But I'm clearly awake and can see whats goin on. This US government is one big socially segregated apathetic organization. But saying that I can say that America does have great potential to become something hopeful in these troubling times. But do I think America Can reach this potential...Do you???

I don't know if this is an issue you plan to study or not, or if it is just something that you feel strongly about. You seem passionate about it though, and, if it's something you would like to research further, it is quite long (36 pages), but you may be interested in this article on Racism and Metropolitan Dynamics by The Institute on Race and Poverty at the University of Minnesota.
