Big Boobs and Blonde Hair: is Playboy so bad?

Tagged:

The Girls next door is my favorite show.

First of all the girls are all into caring about other people, taking care of animals and they are all devoted to Hugh Hefner. SO what if they like to pose nude. They are adults and have the ability to make free choices. They dont sleep all over town and none of the girls they associate with are trashy. They all value love and kindness. Sure some of those girls in playboy are all about the money, but the playboy image doesnt promote that. The playmate of the year is chosen for her good personality as well as her beauty. So what if these girls are physically fit and like to show it off. It serves a function doesn't it? Pornography is a huge economy booster, and atleast men who cant get any otherwise have atleast something to look forward to at the end of the day. In a functionalist society, you need it to keep the morale high. There are scome creepy dudes out there, can you imagine what the world would be like if they werent satisfied in some way. I surely wouldnt want to be around that.

Kendra, Bridgette, and holly all love their families so much and arent self absorbed and have such a great outlook on life,

mabe its because they dont hold back their sexuality like all the rest of us are taught to at a young age.

I see nothing wrong with posing nude, if that's what a girl wants to do. The problem is that Playboy shows off women who aren't real.

50% of women wear size 14 or larger, but most standard clothing outlets cater to sizes 14 or smaller. In addition, a study found that 25% of Playboy centerfolds met the weight criteria for Anorexia. (Source: here.)

Real women don't look like those women in Playboy, and if you think they do, you either live in Hollywood or you're just a bit naive.

(PS - As the person above me said, is this progressive?)

I'm not really understanding your source. Anorexia is not determined by your body weight... Anorexia is an eating disorder. Anorexia means you starve yourself in order to lose weight. One of the ways you can tell someone is Anorexic is if they lose 15% of that person's normal body weight, and the only reason that is a determinate of anorexia is because it's rapid weight loss and it is a clue that people are starving themselves. (Anorexia source: http://www.mamashealth.com/anorexia.asp)

Just because someone is skinny and doesn't weigh what's "average" or "normal" doesn't make them anorexic. Your source doesn't make sense at all.

If those models can be considered "anorexic" (which they can't unless they're starving themselves), then so can I, because my BMI is "below average," (and I can't be considered anorexic because I am also not starving myself. Actually, I am very healthy).

I didn't say that the girls were necessarily anorexic; what I was trying to convey was the idea that their weight is drastically under what it should be in order to be considered healthy. I wasn't intentionally trying to imply that they were anorexic, just that was how they compared with their body weights -- I just copied and pasted that fact.

Also, my comment was trying to get the idea across that yes, Playboy is "so bad." (I was answering the title of this blog post.) They don't portray healthy, average women, only women who are skinny -- and, oftentimes, too skinny.

I wasn't trying to disagree with you or your comment... just with your source. :)

However, I'm kind of an advocate for "skinny" people, mostly because I have been one all my life. I know that I eat healthy, I exercise, and I maintain a healthy life style. And I'm still "skinny," far under what "normal" weight is.

I think the images portrayed in Playboy are beautiful... however, I do understand that they are airbrushed, enhanced, plastic surgeried, and put in clothes (or lack thereof) and positions that are made to flatter. The images, fake or not, and no matter how skinny, are very beautiful.

[I'm not saying being bigger than skinny is ugly, either. Women are very attractive creatures... whether they're a size 4 or a size 14.)
