ever filled any form before? there is sure a column named Sex, need u to fill Male or Female. nowadays, people think that the term sex is not so proper, because people are fighting for freedom, fighting for rights, they hav right to choose the school they want to attend, to choose the partners they want to be with, now, even their sex, or more proper term, gender.

"Sex", biologically refer to ur phenotype, which is determined by combinations of chromosomes X and Y. while, "Gender", psychologically refer to ur own perception of urself as masculine or feminine. therefore, practically, sex and gender are 2 different things.

then, why bother about intersex?

this is because not every person in this world born as either male or female... what a weird sentence?!!!? because some people are born as hermaphrodites, which mean hav the organs of both sexes, hormones of both sexes and develop both sexes' sexual characteristics..... weird? mayb this is partly normal in this world, because there are really a population is born in this condotion...

there are another group of people, pseudohermaphrodite, which means, a person has internal organ of a sex, but has external organ of the opposite sex, e.g. internal organ is testis, but external organ is vulva. em... there are many conditions that cause these situations, either hormonal or environmental factors....

but wat is more important is that, if a child being rise as a girl, after that, she found out she is a male... complicated right!! wat wil the child feels? sad, shock? how to cope? mayb this will be an important psychological issues which need further explore.

studying about intersex open my mind towards different aspects of an issue. at least i m now not struggling to accuse people who did plastic surgery to change their external sexual organ...
