WoW! Rawstory's t'shirt has been deemed illegal in two states.
BUSH LIED THEY DIED Shirt is Illegal in 2 StatesOur anti-war shirt is illegal in 2 states & may soon be banned nationwide. Now features names of 2,803 fallen troops.
Since when is a t'shirt illegal? What happened to Freedom of Speech?
Somehow I'm pretty sure this will get struck down as unconstitutional,.... Its just a matter of time...
Anyone remember the woman who won her lawsuit after a cop pulled her over for an antiwar bumper sticker? Wish I had a link, but i'm just a bit too tired to look it up at teh moment. I'll post it in a comment for you later as soon as i'm truly AWAKE...
Either way, how can ONE TSHIRT be so intimidating? Its certainly a TRUE slogan, and not obscene.... The whole obscenity thing doesn't matter. Last year, during the debacle surrounding Cindy Sheehans arrest at the State of the Union adress, I did a bit of research into the laws surrounding tshirts. What I found is that law precedent determines that a tshirt, is NOT a protest, and that volgarity on a tshirt is NOT obscene unless there are children seeing it.
but am i the only one who really wants that shirt?

IRAQ TO AMERICA: GET OUT.... PIPA has released a new poll of Iraqi attitudes toward the U.S. occupation, and the takeaway is very, very clear: they want us to leave. 74% of Shiites and 91% of Sunnis want us to leave within a year (the number is 80% for Shiites in Baghdad). By wide margins, both groups believe U.S. forces are provoking more violence than they're preventing, and both groups believe that day-to-day security would improve if we left. Support for attacks on U.S. forces now commands majority support among both Shiites and Sunnis. And none of this is because of successful al-Qaeda propaganda: 94% of Iraqis continue to disapprove of al-Qaeda.
Now, it may be that these views are misguided. But it hardly matters: it's simply not possible for us to occupy the country successfully if a majority of Iraqis actively support attacks on our troops and a vast majority think we're responsible for the rising violence. It's time for us to leave.

Yeeeeeeesh... I hope Bush listens to those numbers.. tis just irresponsible of him NOT to-it endangesr our troops when they're palced in Iraq against the governments will, adn against the peoples will... Proof that it is NOT a war. Its an occupation.
with the war being over seas, unless you are family of a fallen 'troop' the war dosen't seem as if it is going on. so a shirt with the names of that many troops really show you that it is still going on. seeing the news everyday dosen't seem real, but it is and if it takes a shirt to show people that it needs to stop then so be it. i am almost old enough to be drafted and well that's not where i want to go. i grew up in a famliy of military men and i have heard the stories. the war just needs to stop. bush got over his head on this one and well i don't want to see my high school friends brought back in caskets.

During the Vietnam war a tally of the dead was updated and posted everyday on the front page of newspapers. No one forgot those who died and people couldn't just push it into the back of their minds.
- Challenge yourself everyday, if you don't then it is a wasted day.

exactly... now they've attempted to make the war so impersonal, no listing of dead troops, no pictures of caskets, etc. that its easy for people to believe that its not really affecting THEM..
They're fighing in Iraq for democracy while they're taking it away back home.
I was curious and couldn't find out how it was illegal or in which two states. It was suggested by a commenter on another blog that it was a law against using soldiers name for advertising, but I couldn't find anything about this. I do want one of these shirts.
my brother is in the army. he believes in what he is doing. to use his name upon his death as a method to disgrace the military in any form would not be honorable. bush, whether you like him or hate him, is commander in chief and therefore part of the military. these young men believe in what they do. do not belittle their memories.
them. They are honoring who they were and what they did.
Belittling them is hiding the coffins in the storage cargo holder of the planes and not letting people view them, honor their names and give them recognition for what they've done.
The t'shirt is the recognition of their service and their death and yes, it's a reprimand of THIS PRESIDENT and his ADMINISTRATION who would send a young person to die for a lie. You can do both at the same time.
And you should.
As Ben Franklin said, 'There's no good war and no bad peace"
I certainly honor your son's efforts and I hope he doesn't die. There will be no celebration upon his death or anyone elses. However, if I put his name on a memorial (be it a t'shirt or a display) it's done to recognise his service and to make sure that nobody else's child has to die for a lie.

its her brother.
but other than that, I agree with you.

Thanks.
And I will certainly pray that her brother is safe. I don't want to add anyone's name to a shirt or a memorial. But it's done to save lives.
I'll pray that her brother comes home safe and whole. I'll pray for other peoples' childrens, sisters, fathers, and mothers too.
When I think of their courage, I'm very proud and respectful of what they do. I just don't support the President who lied them into a war and then bunggled around as if these soldiers have no value.
I value each and every one of them.

I dont think we should still have troops in Iraq. So many American troops are dying. People are losing there family members for what. We bombed them, so why are we trying to help them fix their country. If they want to go to war we should just drop a atomic bomb and kill everyone in the country. That would eliminate the problems in Iraq because there would be no Iraq.
