I want to have a career as a photojournalist in order to travel all over the world, telling people’s stories. This career is perfect for me because it combines my love of photography with my love for helping people. I plan to get my Bachelors and Masters in the Fine Arts, majoring in visual journalism in order to be successful in this career. I do not have the money to pay my way through a photography school, so one of my goals is to earn enough scholarship money and part-time salary to finance my education.
And sentence to be long enough to post.

Why don't you try taking Digital Photography or some other photography classes at your local community college? In order words, see if taking photography classes there is affordable.
good idea. right now i am taking a photo class at my hs.
Why not take online classes and work on building your portfolio? http://ocw.mit.edu/OcwWeb/web/home/home/index.htm
I'm not quite sure what the requirements for photojournalism are, but ask other photojournalist to see what kind of education they had before spending all of that money. Or have you?
Personally, I think that its hypocritical to say that you are not an artist without a proper education in such matters =/
"What would I like to tell you? That I didn’t get what I looked for: to gather all of us naked on the earthly pastures under the endless light of suspended time without that form which confines me as it once confined you." =Milosz
When did I say I wasn't an artist? (I'm confused...) Thanks for the suggestions!
My sister wants to do something similar. I think you should definitely go for it. Work hard for your dreams. Start making portfolio for yourself. What is a photography school anyway? Is it like their own college or just regular school where they teach you photography?
