It's official. Today is the 2 month anniversary since I've seen an entire music video on MTV. Now, this isn't counting MTV2, they're still legitimate, playing music videos at the bare minimum of 2-4 hours every morning. But still...it's disgusting that a channel with such notoriety has to go down not in a blaze of glory, but succumb to Tyra Banks and Randy Jackson. I never anticipated it. Did nobody listen to Justin Timberlake when he chastized MTV for useless shows like Next, Parental Control, Super Sweet 16, ANTM, Jackass (which is an entirely separate issue), Cribs, Boiling Points, Wild Boys and Pimp My Ride? It's pathetic, that's what it is. What's the deal? Vh1 plays more music now!
I remember videos playing at almost a constant rate, at least 10 hours a day, and now I'm lucky if TRL plays a 30 second clip of a (decent) song anymore. Who votes for this? Certainly not the majority. If people are looking for a reason why music is pirated, and why records aren't doing as well as expected, look in the direction of the almighty music television failing us. For shame.
However, I guess it's a good financial scheme. Regular cable's no longer cutting it, so people upgrade to better channels, maybe MtV gets some sort of reimbursement for less-than-quality programming? If this is the case, then why has Fuse been cutting back lately? They're premium, so there's no way to upgrade, unless maybe to XM Radio or something. Is that it? Has the music industry become a giant conspiracy? Aw, shoot.

I miss the music videos, too.
I didn't think Mtv had shown a video since 1992! It seems that way, anyway. The Real World was the beginning of the end.

TRL even shows like 10 seconds of videos and the rest of the show is spent talking to celebrities. I remember that time when Justin Timberlake was telling MTV to bring back to music videos and take out the reality TV shows. LOL. In fact, I remember that the girls from The Hills were standing right behind him because they gave him the award. I found that tidbit funny.
