Many people write off South Park too quickly. Many find it offensive, elementry, immoral. They are right. It is definately offensive, at times quite elementry in humor, and quite immoral more often than not; but it is also all-inclusive, sophisticated in humor, and have the best morals I have ever heard.
South Park is one of the best written satire of all time. It is at the level of Modest Proposal. Its up to date episodes make the news look like they're slacking. And the morals at the end of each episode can make the Dali Loma nod along.
Once you get pass the crude language and the potty jokes, you find yourself watching a show with a fair evaluation of our life, and a great lesson for all to learn. Yes, one episode has Jesus killing and being killed by Terrorists, but that same episode has Santa Claus telling everybody that on Christmas, we should remember a man who died for us.
Yes, in one episode they show mormons as being geeky people that no body likes and believes some foolish believes, but they also end in saying that while some of the fundamental believes may be a bit strange and probably false, they are good people and nicer people than most of us.
Even my mom laughs from time to time (even though she tries not to watch it). More importantly, a Catholic Priest that I know loves the show. If he can enjoy it, certainly you can. Just give it a try if you don't already watch it.

"Once you get pass the crude language and the potty jokes"
I think you're forgetting that many people don't have the mental capacity to get past the crude language, they have the cognitive response of a dog when it comes to hearing it. The slightest 'fuck' and their ability to intepret a piece of communication is pretty much rendered nil by their simplistic sensabilities. Alas these are usually the same people who write off South Park as 'stupid' or 'immoral. But then again, 'stupid' usually translates with these people to: 'something they don't get' and immoral means something that differs from their opinion, or whatever opinion they've been given.

I am the people my mother warned me about.
I personally don't watch the show, not because of the nature of the jokes, but because the voice work for some of the characters grates on my nerves and makes me want to tear my hair out.
"What do we live for, if it is not to make life less difficult for each other?" George Elliot
"It is the mark of an educated mind to be able to entertain a thought without accepting it." Aristotle
I don't like that show and I'll never watch it because it reminds me of my 8th grade classmates of how they were mean to me and how obsessed they were about this show.
Read my blog!
That's sad. I'm sorry. Did their meaness stem or relate to the show, or is the show just connected to them and therefore their meaness?
