ramblings: life, free speech, stuff like that

so here it is... life.

we get thrown into it and were told that we have to learn and work and listen to make it better for us and ourselves. is that right? do we have choices over life? think about it. we do as we are told.

for example.. how do we know that the color purple isnt really yellow, or that green isnt really orange? we are told things like that. who are we to say that they are or arent. but, no one in their right mind would say, "hey, thats not an apple, its called an orange!"

and then whats the deal with our right to "free speech?" im glad we have it, but when you think about it, its not very free. tv is censored, radio, newspaper.... next thing you know, the internet will be censored and then everything goes under. then again, theres little children being solicited and underage people doing illegal things online. even though, if i can go ramble on myspace because im upset that i just got dumped, where can i go to express my beliefs?

then, as i complain, i think about all the societies presented in "1984," "The Handmaid's Tale," "Catch 22," and other stories, at least we dont live in a world like that.

then the free speech thing goes into press. sometimes i feel bad because of these celebs getting attacked. why are we so obsessed with the media and learning whats "in" and "out?" people obesess their lives over things like that, cant you live your own life? but think... everything they do we do, its just not plastered everywhere. i was watching "TMZ on TV" and they were followng these people like crazy... why is is so important? i kno that everyone wants a piece of the glitz and glamour but come on... is it that important?

so... i go back to say that im rambling. its stuff to think about. our world is twisted and confusing. its late. im going to bed.

I do not believe in free speech. And I do not believe in true freedom. America definitely has more freedom. But you know, real freedom would mean we can do WHATEVER we want to and not get punished for doing so. There will always be censorship. People think they don't want their little children to know what sex is, they don't want their kids to pick up curse words in such a young age, and they do not want their kids to do something that the society would consider "abnormal". It was already programed in our head that we have to go to school, get a good job, have a family and retire rich. Only very few who can break away. And I'm trying my best to be one of them. You should too. Just a thought.
