You know, the other day I heard that sixty percent of the nation was obese. And I qam sad to say that I am a part of that sixty percent. I would love to be part of the other fourty and you may be thinking that I am putting myself down along with the other 59.99999999999999 percent of the people iin the United States but it needs to happen. Not only do I want to spread awareness about it but I want to try and push mysself and others to lose weight. I first want to spread awareness by saying that children who eat to much need to be stopped. They are very much at risk for obesity. If you have kids that eat too much then please stop it.! I went through Hell in high school because of my weight. Encourage them and comfort them. Do not let food become their comfort. When I was little I starved a lot. When I got to a place where I coyuld eat a lot I did. I gourged myself to eventually over three hundred pounds. Over three hundred piounds! I have lost about thirty five of that but that is not enough! Obesity is unnecessary and unhealthy! The only reason that there are overweight people is because people find comfort in eating. I know that I do! Obesity is a war that cannot be won unless the obese do something about it. The thin poeple cannot help us unless we help ourselves! We have to do somehtinng about it. Clogged arteries, authritis, gastritis, IBS, heart attack, stroke are just a few health problems. I myself have authritis, IBS, gastritis, and many other things. We need to do something about it before it takes our life away!
Obesity is Killing Our Nation!

Diabetes as well. This was great that you came out to share this with everyone. yes it is quite a problem. I see at least 6 obese people a day, if not more. I frankly will say since you starved alot (and I am so sorry for that) that when you were able to eat you developed a binge eating disorder. The only thing I can disputed with obesity is the fact that the weight to height (BMI) has really uped their standards way too much if you ask me.
I was anorexic and I was down to 120 lbs and I am 5'1. I looked awful even though now the BMI states that I should be at the LOWEST 100 lbs. Of course you have to take into account muscle.
Kids need to be taught at a very early age how to make healthy choices but noy limit themselves. This sometimes causes binge eating if you totally don't allow candy or sweets. I am currently trying to lose weight and it is a struggle. I was made fun of for nearly 9 years before I developed an eating disorder.
The best exercise for people who are obese is bicycle riding. I learned this in my nutrition class. I also believe children need to actually go outside and play instead of sitting on the computer or watching T.V. I am considered obese but I have too much muscle so it makes the BMI inconclusive....

Love comments? I do too!
They are just learning how to eat, and the habits they develop as children will stay with them for the rest of their lives. I think this is part of the reason obesity is generational. Part genetics, part habits learned at home.
The weight you've lost--are you going about it in a healthy way? If so, congratulations! And keep at it. You will feel so much better, physically and emotionally. One thing you might want to consider while going through this process is therapy. A friend of mine saw a therapist while she was losing weight because she wanted A.) someone to keep her accountable, B.) to examine her issues with emotional eating, and C.) to work through her changing appearance and the new ways people interacted with her. She reports it was the best decision she made during the process.
Good luck! And good health!

I think that I will write down everything that happens when i'm on my diet.
In my education classes, they are constantly stressing the importance of active reflection for teachers. I think it applies in a lot of situations.
If you keep a journal of the experience, you'll have a frame of reference for the changes you are going through. you'll have a place to vent frustrations when it isn't going well, and when you reach your goal, you'll be able to look back over the long journey and say "I did a damn fine job!"

I agree with ediblewoman...journaling it is a good idea. Also, I have planned my meals in the past. I would sit down and plan 3 nutritious meals, and have a list of snacks on the side. I only allowed myself to eat what was on the list, and if I had enough left over at the end of the week I "traded" it for something unhealthy.
