I have been told that God created the world in six days, he created man and then woman and he set them up to live eternal lives in a blissful paradise if they would simply stay away from the fruit of temptation. They don't, so according to these same source, here we are six thousand years after creation suffering from the after affects of the original sin. I am also told that the entire uiverse was created in, literally, six days and that nothing much (besides the banishment from eden and the world turning from a heaven to a hell) has happened in that time period to change this, and in light of the relatively recent conflicts between evolutionists and creationists I am confused.
I am told that God created the world in six days, that NOTHING has changed, and then I read the newspaper, take a science class and discover that while macro evolution remains a theory, micro evolution (which works exacly the same way--except you only need 100 years to document it instead of 100 million) is proven. I read about the amazing medical advances made possible by genetic research. Doctor's can now grow bladders--using the same genetic techniques that support evolution and are thus declared faulty and 'unscientific' by many who may someday need this kind of medical care to survive. I am told that while I believe in God, I am a heretic for believing in science as well. Yet I am told that God is all powerful--if God is indeed all powerful why then would God create the world in a measely six days. I mean, he had all of eternity to work with? Why not take some time to shape it, make it work. Why would God just throw something together and then demand strict obediance from those he created? In other words, why wouldn't God use evolution to create the species--why does believing in this scientific principle negate one's belief in God?

Who says God didn't use evolution to create the species? I honestly don't believe that everything in the Bible should be taken so seriously.
WOW! I'm still waiting for any evidence of macro-evolution. I see no reason except speculation and preferring the version that is atheistic at worst and agnostic toward God at best. What I do see is one unexplained assumption to believe the Bible and the Biblical account of creation. I see much historic and scientific evidence that contradicts macro-evolution forcing me to take many leaps of faith to believe in the "scientific" theory.
As for evidence, where the most evidence is found is in the age of the earth. I'll give one example of the evidence. The earth's spin is getting slower. It is decelerating. We have measured this deceleration and it is causing us to add a second to the calendar every two and a half years. Since we know how quickly the earth's spin is decelerating we can extrapolate how fast it used to be spinning. Ten thousand years would not make a huge difference. Ten million years ago centrifugal force would have been greater than gravity at least at the equator.
Then there is supposedly the fossil record that proves evolution and the laying down of the layers over millions of years. We know how old the layers are by observing what fossils are found in them. We know how old the fossils are by observing what layers they are found in. This is a self supporting system but it has no solid foundation. Carbon dating makes assumptions as to the amount of C14 in the beginning and assumptions that the conditions stayed the same and a worldwide flood didn't happen or any other catastrophes.
That all being said, it would require more faith for me to believe a theory that has continually changed since I first heard about it and with every patched hole 4 new holes are born than it takes me to believe there is a God who made all the kinds of animals and humans and had the story transcribed and kept so I can know Him.
Evidence for evolution exists. If you look you will find it. If you are willing to believe it is something else.
If God is all powerful why work in 6 days, why not 6 seconds?
All-powerful
God can't be all powerful and/or, for that matter, all knowing. Here is why:
If god is both then God knows exactly what is going to happen in the future. If he can change it, he's not all knowing. If not, he's not all powerful.
God as all powerful has the o-so similar question- Can god create a mountain he can't move. Here's another little thing. If god is all powerful he could know the future without question, but then, he can's change it so...
All knowing- Judea-Christian can't be all knowing because he knows exactly what would happen in the future, therefore man doesn't have freewill. Neither, for that matter, would god. No deity that is the most powerful thing in existence can be all-knowing, because then he would be subject to fate and therefore, less powerful than it.
