How do I define "progress?"
Print out the aforementioned definitions, ball them up, and throw them away. Progress is moving forward. A continuous onward state of being that can't be fixed into place with a definition, or even a well-researched opinion thoughtfully typed out into an essay.
Progress is fighting for change. You don't like the definition of marriage? It's a definition. Fight to change it! It's not enough to write your opinion down. Progress is writing it down and then sending it to a representative. Progress is getting a lot of people to write their opinions down and send them off to a representative with you. Progress is making sure people know what you believe and why and why it's important to you.
Progress is being informed with reliable, unbiased sources. PETA and righttolife.org are not unbiased sources. If you're looking at a source for information because you know you are going to find information that concurs with your own opinions, it's probably not unbiased, and you're not making progress for yourself, nor anyone else. You're staying right where you are because it's the state of mind you're comfortable with. Challenge your beliefs by looking for views contrary to your own. Then you'll be making progress.
Progress is action.
"Be the change you want to see in the world."
-Mahatma Gandhi
Mahatma Gandhi knows what progress is.
Do you?

Wow.
I really like how you handled the flow of this blog entry. It was to the point and very concise, yet highly creative.
I'm going to keep a closer eye on your future blogs because you have some good stuff here. :)
And you're right, progress is fighting for a change. Regardless of what it is.

Hey thanks :-)
I'm sorry I don't post more. The impulse to write creatively doesn't happen as often as I'd like. A lot of my entries in my other blog are like scripts of funny conversations I've had with my 4-year-old nephew. It probably doesn't help that a lot of current events are about as current as they were the day before, and the day before that, etc. and bore me to tears to write about. :-P
