Haha, right. My title makes only a little sense, but that’s ok. After all, cracking a smile every now-and-then for no reason in particular might not make much sense to many people, either. However, it might just have the power to make someone else’s day.
(Save Many In Less Emotions: SMILE)
Perhaps my stilly title pulled it off. Are you smiling yet?
There is nothing that can touch another person’s heart and brighten their day like a smile. It can be a relaxant, a people-connector (very technical term), a confidence-booster, or even an aphrodisiac!
Feeling “blah?” Crack a grin, and you may feel a bit better. See someone looking a bit down? Send a flash of pearly-whites their way, and they just might feel better, too.
I’ve been observing smiles quite a bit lately, especially other peoples’ reactions to receiving a smile. Living in a country where I have a little language-barrier issue (my Japanese isn’t quite at the level I would prefer it to be yet), often a smile is the best way to communicate. It’s interesting to see the tension of being around a strange foreigner suddenly drain from someone’s shoulders when I let loose a little grin.
Smiles are also very useful in the workplace. I find having a reputation of being a positive person to be pretty helpful. Smiles can help you gain this fantastic reputation, too!
So, break out a grin! It can make you and others feel better, and can be a language all of its own.

they should be genuine. Fake smiles aren't cool... I'm big on authenticity. Maybe you agree with me, but I feel like you left the door open for people to smile even if they aren't happy just to get a desired effect from others. Seems shady to me...

Good point. I agree.
I remember seeing something about smiles in a psychology book. Apparently the first natural reaction to a smile is...a smile. Yay, happy thoughts.

Mind Control is Easier Than You Think
A few days ago I was buying breakfast at my school. I wasn't feeling GREAT or anything, infact i was probably feelings a bit down, but out of politeness I smiled at the cafeteria workers. Apparently it was a good smile, because they just started talking to me and telling me, "Did you know you're smile can make someones day?" I thought it was funny but it cheered me up....I realized its true.
