getting in shape is really hard. especially when there is so much else to do. it just kind of works its way down the list of priorities, until it becomes a life-long procrastination. whenever i realize that i am leaving exercise off the top of my to-do list, i wish i would reconsider. the day goes so much smoother if you eat right and work out. you feel more confident, alert, and refreshed. i always get more done on days that i try to be healthy.
it's also kind of funny how the hardest time to work out is the time we need it most. i have a really hard time getting out when im feeling low. depression makes me sluggish. but exercise, even if forced, magically lifts the spirit. i think there are scientific explanations for why this happens. even walking outside and letting the sunrays hit my skin makes me feel better. the hard part is convincing myself of this when im in one of those states.
i think the best thing to do to have a good day is to workout first thing in the morning. this gets fitness right off your to-do list, and makes it easy to stay on schedule. it also sparks the day for good eating habits. i think i am even going to start splitting my routine into morning and evening sessions, since now i have the time.
