As students, we all have items we no longer need. Textbooks, calculators, lab accessories and so many other school necessities collect dust while others search frantically for a place to purchase the items they need to begin their college careers. And as we all know, purchasing those necessities can cause a huge financial strain. Some of you have expressed an interest in helping your fellow students while clearing out your closet and ProgressiveU.org would like to help!
As you may have noticed, we have launched a new feature. The Progressive U Classified Ad system has been launched in an effort to help you help others. For $5.00 per ad (which will go toward maintaining the ProgressiveU services and the scholarship program), you can list items, such as textbooks, that you would like to sell or donate to other students. All registered members of ProgressiveU will be able to view your ads and help you get rid of those things by putting them to good use themselves!
We have a few rules and general guidelines that we require you to follow however:
1) Any and all items listed must be legal.
2) If you're selling the item, price it realistically!
3) No alcohol or tobacco listings will be tolerated.
4) You are solely responsible for your advertisement and for any agreements entered into.
5) The ProgressiveU Terms of Service and the Classified Ad Terms of Service must be followed.
6) No business listings unless permission has been previously obtained.
Any ad you place is good for one month from the date it goes live (and you aren't charged until you publish the ad). You can view and edit your ad to your heart's content without having to meet any additional fees. And you can have as many ads listed as you wish. Please remember, however, that the system requires you use Paypal to pay for the ad listing! If you don't have one already, you can sign up for a Paypal account here.
We hope you will find this service useful and will give us your feedback! To find out more, read through the new FAQ section on classified ads here! Any questions can be directed to us here. Or, you may send any inquiries directly to Fanaile Essence.

Happy hunting!

It is a great idea. I'm a little hesitant about using Paypal, as I've never used the service before. Does Paypal lock into a bank account or something?

Comments are always appreciated! :)
I have had a PayPal acount for years. You can set it to any other account (including a credit card) that you want.
I find the easiest way is to verify my bank account. To verify the account, you fill in the necessary information. After about 2-3 days you'll see two deposits in your account from PayPal - then go back to the site and tell them the amounts of those deposits.
I have never had a problem with PayPal, and I haven't met anyone (in person) who has had problems. Read over everything carefully, including how to handle spam and spoof mails. There are people who try to send you an email occassionally that will say something like "you have to log into your account right now or it will be deleted."

This sounds like a really great idea. A way to clear out your closet and to assist others in finding what they need.
This will be awesome! I am expecially tired of the outrageous costs of text books from the campus book store. I spent $350 on two books this semester!
I've heard about used textbook clubs online, but this sounds like it'll reduce the middleman and woman. Swell thinkin'.
