Racism

How real is racism? I've heard comments from my grandmother, but she's from like.... a long time ago, and that was standard. Her thoughts on others have been utterly discredited. But the elderly aside, how much is it really out there?

At my local community college there have been reports about KKK recruiters trying to attract people to join their club. That's a little disgusting.
I'm watching the History Channel, and there is a story on the Skin Heads. Well they're pretty frightening. They use heavy metal to appeal to dumb kids. They claim to try and appeal to middle class, the truckers, the workers yatta yatta. They're trying to attract the people who don't have the education, nor the thinking capacity to realize, "hey, I'm making a bad decision."

Now, please, tell me. How much racism have you seen? Homophobia can be included, religious intolerance, anything. Sexism is quite widespread. In fact, DirecTV is using a Jessica Simpson look alike to act really ditzy. Men, women are not here as breeding tools.

Just google the term "White Supremist" and you'll get info like stormfront.org It's really strange. I'm blown away that people like this exist.

I've dealt with homophobia (I'm gay. I have a few gay friends.), and religious intolerance (I'm an atheist. A friend of mine, also an atheist, and I got into a heated discussion with some Christians once. They were the ones getting pissed). Not so much sexism, though.
