So with the presidential elections creeping up slowly, I have been seeing more and more on the news about who should be the next canidate. This brings me to Hilary Clinton, who is obviously a woman, and is running for the presidency. I hear all these politicians on all sides giving their two cents on whether she would be a good leader or not. I'm beginning to wonder if it's not the fact that she will be a good president, but that she is a woman. Never in history has there ever been a woman running the country and for some reason it has stayed this way. I thought women were considered equal and had the same rights as a man? I guess I am a little off because it seems to me that women are looked at as the "mother figure", rather than the leader type. Then again, society teaches that women should be strong, independent individuals, yet it seems that some individuals have no interest in putting Hilary in charge because she is a female. My theory is that politicians fear what they have never experienced, meaning the leadership of a woman president. I suppose if society has never dealt with the issue directly than it could be reluctant to trade in the old ways fro the new. I'm not saying that I am a democrat, but simply addressing the fact that even today, the U.S has never experienced a woman in the president role. Times are changing, so why not change with the time? I think keeping women out of the presidency, shows that we are still living in the past and denying an equal right merely because of gender. There needs to be more women involved in the battle...
what's so wrong with having a woman leader?

I'd be against Hillary if she was a he.... I just disagree with her view on everything.
GO GUILIANI!!!!
I see your point, but i have to say for me it isn't based on the fact that she's a woman, I'm one myself, but it's the fact that i don't like her. As a politician, i just don't like her. I think that those you do like her always seem to come to the conclusion that it's because she's a woman, but it's not always true. It's just that she seems to bring out very strong emotions in people.
but maybe i'm wrong, maybe to alot of people it's because she's a woman. But to the people I know, that's not the issue.
your opinions, i just noticed people's atttitudes towards her because she is a woman...
let's say, she gets elected.
and then makes mistakes worse than that of bush.
okay, let's say that anyone who is to be elected, makes worse mistakes than bush.
What then? what shall we say about it being a woman, a man, a black person, asian, white, whatever....What then would it matter?
And all in all, what should it matter to whomever gets the job, as long as they do a truthful and decent job?
none of it should, just because this country has been ego based for all of these years, doesn't mean that it can't change to get better or worse.
we make this crap matter, because as a people, we want someone to blame on the problems of the world and blah blah blah, sorry i had to say such things in your blog, but honestly....if she does a good job and get voted, then so be it, but if it were to be a woman....I don't think she'd be the one to be able to do it, don't think she's strong enough yet.
I appreciate everyones opinion in the matter, my question is why has there never been a woman president?
is it because we fear women in a leadership role?
and if she gets elected...how do you know she won't be strong enough? how do we ever know something until we give it a chance...
I'm not underminding your opinion at all, because I believe everyone's opinion counts, ideas count...I just was putting up the idea for discussion...
Thanks for the feedback:)
how do i know if she will be strong enough, once she's actually elected, that I do not know. But like I said, I do not feel that she's strong enough yet, I don't think any of the runner ups are, most of them are too closed minded to see all that really matters.
I dont think it has to do with that society is scared of change, or that they fear the unusual, or that it is a female in a leadership position. I think a lot of it has to do with the fact that she is a woman (she may be a man in female clothes But . . .) and women tend to make decisions based off of emtotion. They arent really wired to put their feelings and emotions on hold to make an important decision that a president would have to make. Women tend to rule and make decisions off of the heart or from the heart and men make decisions based off of their head/mind (usually).

Maybe it's because this is the first time a women has run for president? Personally, i won't vote for her because I hate her political ideas. If she were a man, I wouldn't vote for her still. Ron Paul is my kind of politician.
it's extremely important to be a strong individual with great ideas for a country...
maybe thats why im not ever going to run for president?
Certainly the reason there has been no female president is because of bias. But it's not just sex, it's also race and religion. There's only been one non-Protestant president, and obviously there has been no non-white president.
With Hilary, I just plain don't like her. She's had her hands in far too much dirt. http://prorev.com/wwindex.htm

Also, height has a lot to do with it, as well. Almost all the Presidents have either been over 6' tall and/or (among) the tallest of the runners. This is because height lends to the idea of personal strength and the (inaccurate) view that the taller is a better leader than the shorter person.

I agree with you on several aspects: yes, the country should be ready for a woman president. We preach that we are all equal, so why not act like it? That said, I am a Democrat, but do not favor Hillary Clinton. She is trying to win, not trying to honestly put her views out there. She has her husband out doing her dirty work, shamelessly and personally attacking Obama instead of focusing on the issues. She changes her opinion on EXTREMELY important issues, so if you elect her by what she's saying now, you really don't know what you're going to get. I would love a female president. But I don't want it to be her. The only real reason she ever was politically successful anyways was because 1. she was the President's wife, and 2. she is a female. We are all equal, so one should not be elected because of her gender any more than she should not be elected because of it. I would rather have a woman who is successful because of what she has done not from riding on her husband's coattails.

There is nothing wrong with having a woman PREZ.
The problem is " It's the wrong Woman Stupid"
"She has her husband out there doing her dirty work shamelessly,...."
I totally agree.
This will continue if she receives the nomination or elected President.
Ok, I will stop the stupid talk.
Only Fools make the same mistake twice.
"it's your husband stupid"
It's not the woman part that worries me (they're not going to get their period and suddenly bomb the world), it's the Hilary part.

Note: The book " The Book Thief" is now on my Book Wish List
Rest in Peace.
I think The Book Thief is my new favorite book, no joke.
It was amazing.
I don't know who I'd bomb first... actually, I don't feel like bombing anyone anymore.
Just goes to show that a woman would screw up the world with her hormones! :))
